Well now that I've gone and had a look at a bunch of my attempts to get fantails on the wing down at Hatape last winter, I discover this shot I didn't even know I had, which appears to show a fantail just a split second away from swallowing an insect. Cool.

Some of my blurred bird pics (and yes that also includes fantails) are quite artistic. I tend not to delete them because they have a certain something. If only they looked that way on purpose I'd be quite proud of them.

I have wasted hours trying to get a good shot of them on the wing. Haven't done it yet. Lots of shots of wings and beaks entering or leaving frame. Ditto for Swallows.
