  • Speaker: I too, am man,

Slight hijack - Any of you fine gennelmen and ladies recall the name of a newish NZ brewed beer that was apparently designed specially for consumption with curry?

  • Hard News: He might be crazy, but he's…,

When I saw the title of the post it reminded me of an Ian Brown interview I recently read in the Guardian. Now that guy is old rock star crazy, although he does make a good point about hoodies.

Oh and I also saw the Exponents on one of those late 90s university tours, but sadly I can't remember a thing. But that goes for any Dunedin concert from first year.

  • Hard News: Bad Skillz,

There's a good test of any London Underground automated map - ask it how to get from Chancery Lane to Farringdon. They're about 5 minutes walk apart but can only be reached by tube through three changes of train.

I can verify that, I just this and the first three options suggested routes of between 21 to 44 minutes, although option four did suggest walking, if one could be bothered scrolling down that far. Generally a good website though, especially with the google maps feature.

  • Hard News: The Soap Opera,

Russell, didn't you run a survey on this topic of how people consume TV or media a whiles back? Are you (or have you?) going to publish the results soon?

  • Hard News: The Soap Opera,

I would have thought the trust idea would be quite realistic in NZ, given that TVNZ doesn't have to do the License Fee beg like the BBC does.

Anyone able to tell me what the freeview picture quality is like in NZ? The picture in the UK reminds me of TelstraClear cable rather than say Sky Digital, and it seems to suffers from frequent pixelation/image freeze.

  • Hard News: Done and Blended,

Well speaking of the massive stock market gambles, the word* on IRC has been of late that Bush is planning his next "pearl harbour", and that it will involve nuking a small mid western American city.

If that doesn't happen then he will circumvent the Constitution through NAFTA +++, aka the North American Union and have himself declared President of that AND the army won't rebel because they will be in Iraq AND the new privatized military companies will put down any democratic rebellion. I believe the illegal immigrants might also form some sort of fifth column.

*IRC is full of tidbits like this, and happily they are usually totally wrong, but it is comforting to know that people are speculating about it all 24/7. Either way, I speak as an observer, not a holder of such opinions.

  • Hard News: The Near Future,

Right Stephen, I know we've had our moments re anti Semitism, I had just assumed it had become marginal around say WW2, not Social Credit times.

  • Hard News: The Near Future,

  • Hard News: Nasty,

Well, happily we have MMP, so as long as we can make sure no one party can govern alone we might be able to mitigate any bait and switch tendencies.

So the theory goes at least.
