  • Stories: Memorable Meals,

I was inducted into the society of home made baked beans for breakfast at a place called Uncle's on Portobello Road, although i've been instructed that it is nothing compared to the Goldburne Deli just up the road about 5 minutes. Sadly their breakfast menu finishes at 12 sharp and I can never scare up the motivation to get there in time. Their sandwiches are divine however.

Found this site for those of you nostalgic about London. Basically the site seems to have taken a whole bunch of photos of street frontages, mapping the shops to photos.

I can't bring myself to like Winehouse, but in my defence I've had to read about her antics for the last 4 months from the free newspapers. Sure I could not read them, but they really are everywhere

David, the most recent example that I can think of is sci fi - so perhaps not the scholarly work that would give me credibility. Now I am desperately trying to remember (while drunk) the name of a 1960s author who wrote this particular book of short stories. It might be a while.

Interesting theory, I've seen it alluded to here and there but not to that degree. There seems to be a fair bit of "wotif" Roman scifi about these days too, on a vaguely related note.

  • Hard News: Te Qaeda and the God Squad,

It does seems a little otherworldly from afar, I wonder how long this will take to get play in the world newspapers, and if it makes the "oddly enough" or the real news section? My bet is I'll read about in the Guardian Saturday edition in a week or two. Title something along the lines of "trouble in paradise"

  • Hard News: The standing-still sweep,

I happened to be listening to Salmonella Dub's John Banks track from this album about 5 minutes before I read Russel's sad post. Spooky.

Looks like it shall become topical/useful for the third time.

Freeview is currently on my angry list - tried to watch the first episode of Flight of the Conchords last night on bbc4 and the dammed reception kept cutting out. With freeview that means image lock or simply "no signal". Boo.

Wasn't Selwyn's attraction partly that he actually made an effort and went outside of the big cities? Sorta like Top Town and the like

  • Hard News: One Million Tunes,

Wasn't there a US court case a few months back relating to a man wanting to delete something he had said a decade ago as a youth as it was still visible somewhere?

Anyway, teenage boys say pretty stupid things on a regular basis. Not just stupid, but racist, abusive, all the colours of the rainbow really, and thats not even counting those who go to boys only schools/play online games. I would need to see an extensive body of posting/behaviour over a period of years before I'd be willing to pass judgment.
