  • Hard News: #BDOMemories,

Although I prefer bands.music in smaller venues pubs, clubs, smaller arenas or theatres it is a shame BDO is gone - I hope "it" or something "like it" comes back - the Kids need to be able to rock..

The thing that put me off of "festivals" was the thowing of beer cans - it reached ridiculously dangerous extremes at Sweet Waters. Seeing The Angels guitar player bleeding profusely from a thrown can was more than bad - that he finished the show was remarkable.

Lou Reed played the Logan Campbell Centre and he had to stop the show and address the crowd to stop the can throwing.

  • Hard News: Nobody wanted #EQNZ for Christmas, in reply to Kumara Republic,

Yes, First Citizen John Key the First and the inner sanctum to the rescue.

We need to be saved from the perils of being free citizen's living in a democracy (at both local and central govt level).

    http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/96173/nzoa-accused-of-political-bias-over-poverty-show

The NZ economy is more than likely to, this year, begin sinking in a titantic fashion and the poor and the free press need to be confined to the lower decks - despite Citizen Bill English's commission on poverty. - so as not to distrub those travelling in first class who will in six months from now spend their tax cuts buyng power generation.

Clever ploy of geting the tax cuts back - don't you/they think.

  • Hard News: Nobody wanted #EQNZ for Christmas,

All I have to worry about today is mowing mother's lawns, going again to the supermarket, finishing off one small job, getting sufficient wrapping paper, what time to start cooking for 14 tomorrow and how I should do the potatoes - I think thinly sliced into a baking dish in several rows, sitting on their sides, seperated by thin carrots, covered in sliced mushroom sprinkled with fresh herbs – sitting in cream and covered in cheese and then baked slowly – quite mundane considerations in the wider sense of challenges of life.

The recent spate of shakes to a degree significantly removes the mundane and seasonal tasks from the people of Christchurch in a year where they really need some rest and respite from it all, and this is more than “sad”, sorry I can’t find a better word.

What I can do about this is tender my best wishes to the people of Christchurch and wish you all, all of you, things good and mundane over these next few days and trust that you can receive get some peace.

  • Hard News: It was a munted year,

Saw First Citizen John Key on the TV News last night, in answer question of 1,000 NZers exiting to Oz per week, spouting on about bridging the wage gap between NZ and Oz.

I think he said something about "we" have to do something - who were the "we" and what was the "something" they had to do?

Just a bit of joke - the reckless abandonment that presently passes for economic policy.

    Now there stands a munter.

Nek Minnit the Auckland City (rate payers) baling out NZTA:

    http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/12416416/auckland-council-coughs-up-more-for-roads/

This govt's has been diving head first into the trough that is the treasury benches and is swilling back so hard they have over looked implementing policy to a budget and planning and they have now found the NZTA trough to be empty.

  • Hard News: Word of the Year 2011 -- The Vote!, in reply to Russell Brown,

A smashed cup isn't munted, it's smashed into pieces.

A smashed cup is shattered - something that is munted still retains its original form to a degree but is unable to be used or repaired.

An example being "some friends", in an attempt to get wheels to go to a festival traded a worn out ford prefect engine for a similar working engine out of a ford popular - the transplant didn't work - cross members in different places meaning the new sump didn't fit.

The offending sump was marked with a pencil and then an attempt was made to beat it into shape using mallets and hammers - it almost got there but split - the sump was munted retaining a semblance of what it was but had now been rendered unfit fit for any purpose except scrap metal. It was well and truly munted.

Just a shame that it wasn't the 'right kind' of sub-culture.

It wasn't the left kind of subculture either as regards "munted": it is rather bourgeois.
