And when some enormous part of New Zealand - say, Wellington or Auckland - gets swallowed up by a massive earthquake someday, or buried by an enormous volcanic eruption, I'm sure you'll all have the same charmingly empathetic 'well, you shouldn't have lived there, dumbasses!' response, right? I mean, who would live in a place so geologically unsound? We must all be crazy and stupid and deserve to die, or at least lose our homes!
ah... I thought Emma was suggesting( and I was agreeing) that all the complaining about the weather isn't going to fix the problem especially when it is constant, annually even.

For the record, I'm also an unsympathetic bitch when it comes to people who keep rebuilding their houses on that nice flat bit of land next to the river and bitching when it floods.
Its also like Americans living in Tornado Alley and"thanking God" and "We're gonna rebuild" as soon as their house is flattened by their annual devastation of their home. Duh!
-
And at the risk of being a tad bitchy, why is it that local body politicians who live in the ugliest houses are always so eager to lecture everyone else on good taste? (Don't worry, I'm not going to post pictures but I sure hope he's no longer living in the wodge of Maini Vice lego he used to occupy. Wasn't even so tacky it reached the level of perverse cool.)
LOL! I knew I could get a bit of help there . Thanks Craig. What if there is a teddy bear, but we just cant find it?

"...Also, it looks like John Banks has actually done something..."
I was stunned at that as well! I just hope he gets his wife to start the car for him in the morning from now on.
Yikes. But yes, he has gone up considerably in my estimation.
As Craig (always ;) so eloquently puts it "I reserve judgement" .I cant help but wonder why ? I know he had issues with a townhouse development on Orakei rd on the waterfront. He has only said there needs to be better consultation , and the building at Greenlane Hospital was up for demolition already so he could have intervened when it actually mattered.Do Mayors really have any pull ?(excuse the pun). Does subdividing large properties for townhouses help or hinder the value of residentials 1 or 2?How will it effect Banks' residential property? Yes, still cynical, sorry. I am trying though.... :)

I struggle to understand ,as anything other than gross incompetence,
Di , I am sorry to hear of the failure of our system. I am truly sorry, and something needs to be fixed. If there is anything I can do, to help force that team to be accountable and ensure changes are to be made, I will do my best.My condolences to you and your family.xx

. Perhaps staff working in mental health units should have some secret garden with wildflowers
So sorry for your loss Sophie. I know myself and my man were concerned for you and Finn over the last few weeks. He was obviously well loved, and it was nice to read about his love for you in his mail to Russell.
I noticed (while in Ak Hospital) that they do now have a secret garden for staff and it is a necessary inclusion for everyones sanity in trying times.xoxo -
. He could have been clearer, couldn't he?
Again :)

I think you're putting a bit of a value judgement on it there Sofie. Being unable to get out of bed does not help you grow. Having chemical imbalances corrected so that you can do the things that you would normally do, however, does.
None whatsoever which is why I said each to their own , different strokes etc.I know many people in all walks of life that have or haven't chosen antidepressants and all cope differently. I know others who self medicate and they cope also. I myself take meds and self medicate but I feel great to be alive and its because I woke up after being brain dead so as I said "each to their own. No judgement : )

I can go off meds for up to six months at a time but when I start not coping I can go back on them to mediate the extremes. They help me live my life when stress pushes me over the edge.
Respectfully too, I think you said alot. The stress, edge, extremes, not coping are all personal experiences and whether you self medicate or take prescriptions, one will often find something that will work.I guess it should be each to their own. I do find it interesting that children are taking drugs(of any sort) rather young, and I am sure society pressure can influence. I find it sad that those kids are missing out on the real life experiences (through suppression of "bad behaviour") which in the long run could help them to grow. But, different strokes etc, and do the kids on meds now, end up being the adults on ssri's?

It strikes me that another weakness in this study -- probably a reflection of the vintage of the trials -- is that it does not consider at all the use of SSRIs to ease anxiety disorders, only clinical depression.
It may be that it would require a completely different trial . Often new effects from the trials can cause the new studies.
