Has anyone noticed that cows often congregate around the milking shed .I see they don't need help to get there. I wonder if they want human contact? There was the autistic woman Temple Grandin, who had some interesting experiences with cattle and it helped her autism tremendously and also changed the way we deal with cattle.Yep, Craig, Life is good.

Personally if a bunch of animals hung around feeding me in a nice safe cage, I'd soon learn to ignore them looking at me. I'm sure I'd yearn for a bit more space, but we all do that anyway.
I agree and do believe a healthy respectful coexistence between human and animal species is the way to go .
I stopped going to Zoo's when they took the pants off the Chimpanzees
not exactly a chimp story but...my uncle owned a leopard. His name was Henry(don't think there was any issue with his English name ).Henry lived a fortunate life, many would say excellent. His family could afford to feed and house him accordingly and consequently he lived to a ripe ol' age.Once again the family cat got to enjoy the company of humans, which I remember he seemed to enjoy. Henry also had a neighbourhood friend. He was a spider monkey. The monkey used to visit (over the fence) and sit on Henry's back. I am sure everyone enjoyed them and I don't think they particularly cared what we thought anyway,as long as they were fed etc.To interact with animals is a wonderful lesson of equality and the health(mental and physical) benefits do work a treat.

I also wonder why Mallard had to be the wedge, but I suppose when you're that rich you can't send in a low level lackey.
He's minister for the environment. Could that be why he oversaw a potentially hostile media environment. He could also now be an expert when dealing with the media, what with all that he went through recently.; )

And just for the record I don't much like people keeping dogs cooped up in cities/towns either
I think it helps to include your dog in your daily activities so they are not left at home alone.I am lucky enough to take my dog to work with me and I don't think she would have it any other way. She also goes on holidays up north (her birth place) and loves the journey. I suspect Stella thinks the car is now hers. She is able to distinguish between cats at work that are "no go" and neighbouring cats that are fair game (for removal from our garden). I know she loves her inner city life, but I do stress ,inclusion is all they ask for, and, they will give you their all.

.....the fence could become valuable,... trade me.. commission for your work .The right to exhibit without gallery fees. ..... Perhaps I should replace those ol' trees.

sorry my preview bit aint workin' but I meant to point out that the train movie was about getting the new white ones and covering them as quickly as possible without concern for others. They were prepared to die for it. This was the 80's! No change there then. . Perhaps we could have judging thus pushing up quality of production and then you could win the right to grafitti, making the act" viable art."

</quote>Yes. Judging tags/pieces predated Dancing With The Stars: they were rated on (Wild)style, degree of difficulty, execution, and public appeal!</quote>I forget the name but there was that movie where they bombed the trains in the stealth of night.I must admit I do likethe grafitti at morningside drive by the train tracks The colours are fantastic

I have noticed a couple of tags on the wall at the end of our street. This shop has a product on its(large) wall that generally makes tags removable . They also seem to have eliminated the mismatched blotches of paint that replace the tags. There is a much larger wall 20 steps away and it is never tagged. It is lit over night. The other areas that seem safe from tagging would be the banks around the corner yet shops next to them are always "pissed on".
I suspect the corner shop etc are good advertising space, and perhaps tagging is a crude form of what we are always seeing anyway.
Personally I dont like it (tags and advertising) . I solved the fence problem by putting in trees and found I get compliments by the most unlikely sorts.
I also notice the media is quick to interview taggers but I didnt see any discussion with them about what would they do otherwise if given any other chance?
I think the recent push to" DEMAND ACTION" any time the papers report it, has left the government no choice but to do something. -
I sometimes wish that all the people who've come here from elsewhere would bugger off somewhere else, just for five minutes, and leave the place to the REAL Aucklanders
we noticed that they do bugger off at Xmas, and the peace that reigns over the week to new years week is quite lovely.Dominion rd (and Mt Eden rd) without cars was worthy of a photo.
