I agree that the show sounds, well, crazy. I've given up watching TV, so....
However, I dont think compulsory/optout organ donation is a good idea. I was all for donation, before I got talking to a friends wife - she's a (very good) anesthesiologist (knock-out-gal :) ) and has been involved with organ harvesting. She said, knowing what she knows, she would NEVER donate organs - most of the people who get them, come back for another in a short space of time (no lifestyle changes, so the screw the new one up, too), and the procedure itself - even tho the patient is basically dead anyway - is rather macabre.... think cut-n-run
I think I'd rather donate my body to a medical school....

iTunes gets around the credit card problem: either use gift cards, or get parents to put a limit on the account (or they can buy credit for the kids), and use their CC - eg $60 a month..... or something.
Works for me (well, I get someone else to buy me gift cards in the US, as I dont have a US credit card)

Graeme: I dont see what him resigning has to do with the vote - even tho it's the reason.
Sorry, I have a BIG issue with the behaviour of NZ MP's when they decide they dont wanna play the party game anymore.
-
Graeme:
IF I voted for UF - and hence got Copland in - and he resigns and quits the party, I want another UF person in there. End of story. I voted for UF, not for him.
If I voted for him - as my electorate mp - and he got in, then I'd want him to say (actually, even if I _didn't_ vote for him!)
(all of that is kinda retorical, as there is no way I'd ever vote for UF, but you get the idea)
I agree, that there isn't a 1st and 2nd class of MP - UNTIL they resign. If you wanna resign: fine. If the people put you there, you stay (if you want to). If your party put you there, they shoudl also be able to remove you.

Oh, the title of this made me crack up (and search flickr for pics of RussB, the Beehive and cute cats for a mashup) - then Juha's one just made it that much better.
Thanks guys, from the other side of the world (Madison, WI)
:)

On the AirNZ thing - I wonder if she's sent this to Google, too, cos I have their GrabASeat RSS feed in google reader, and I'm SURE thats (C) AirNZ....
<sigh>. Welcome to the 1990's

I've known Russell since ICONZ was an ISP in a broom cupboard in Airedale Street. He has always been part of my online life.
I'm in the same boat - as I was working at ICONZ at the time (yay the Chris/Kim/Terry/Rowan/etc days :)), and I've bumped into him at IDG too, when I was contracting there.
I'm still yet to met a nicer bloke out of the list of people I dont know really well.
Hardnews on bFM was a reason to get up on a friday morning in my last year of uni (no lecturers on fridays :) ), and I look forward to getting it on PA now.
Pity I live in welli and couldn't come. :( Oh, well - I bought a virtual ticket anyway :)
So, Russell - thanks. I can't really say any more than that without giving you a handshake or a big hug ;-)
However, I'm still curious as to the discussion between you and Kim Schienberg at the ICONZ wake..... if you wanna spill (maybe not here)..... :)

Have passed the link onto a friend who has aspergers and is really into their IT stuff. I'd expect that you'd already know her though.
Well, I guess - as I kinda know Ms Behaviour and Chelfyn via the Psytrance/dance community - I really have no idea what Aspergers is :) time for a google I think....
So, assuming there isn't going to be a welli event, can the fine folks at pear create a non-event? Ie can I buy a ticket to an event which doesn't exist, ala a donation? :)

RB, on the ads: they are very noticable, but like anyone, you gotta pay the bills :) If I was paying a sub for PA, I'd prefer it without, but hey - I'm getting all this lovely content for FREE, so I'm not going to be complaining..... Just as long as it's not the one that pops up from the side and plays video.... urgh, puts me RIGHT off the advertiser, and the site.
And, no comments on the police thing, except: I agree - no way I'd want Rickards as chief... There is most likely more to the story than either side is saying, but either way, not something that a top cop shoudl have been doing..... ever.

How many more days do you reckon the Wellington-based media can wring out of the tedious sooky-Aucklanders-can't-handle-an-earthquake narrative they've come up with? And are they overcompensating already?
I imagine they might keep it up until the aucklands harden up and stop moaning about a little shake up.
:)
