  • Hard News: Ready to Fly,

When I was in Singapore recently I received a list of things to do from a friend that lived there for a while that make me think that perhaps Singapore isn't quite as repressed as i've been led to believe.

  • Speaker: So farewell then, Tony Blair,

Actually the Economist chimed in last week on a related issue, in their Bagehot column. Their view was that generally things are a lot better now than they were 10 years ago, so why is everyone upset?*

*Allowances made for Iraq, petty corruption and the like.

  • Island Life: Take that, evil scammers!,

I had thought misleading information (or at least hiding) about the true price/intent of a service had previously been deemed a breach.

Well for what it's worth Blair at least did seem like a worthy orator compared to some of his contemporaries, although I guess being compared to Bush probably helped him look good.

You'd be surprised how many rabid right wingers in the US don't actually realise Blair is the head of what is (or was?) a socialist party. I predict his cult of worship in some parts of US will allow him to eat well for so long as he can stomach it.

Oh and Singapore...wow...I've never seen a newspaper (Straits Times) so obssesed with women losing weight, oh and university education. Although to be fair to them, I guess they are just taking advertising.

So Portebello Road reminds me of Cuba St, writ large. A great, fun little street with loads of character and cafes, but heavily gentrified.

Keith, all this time I thought you had been a partisan for Truth at the Saliant. Turns out you were just another russelbot.

    For shame

Oh and what is Stephen's prize for his C0d****** word of the year comment? He surely deserves an autographed N&S, perhaps inscribed with a gold leaf "LOLOLOLOLOL@Debs<3Yurediting!" legend on the inside page.
