That's Mum's dog, Ollie, Ian. And yes, he does look a lot like Snowy (ou Milou, comme vous disez.)

No, that's my Ruby! The pound thought she may have been lab/staffy/mastiff, but she's definitely Ridgeback, and something hunty/pointy, and something fast. I have a better photo......

We don’t have any pohutukawa up here on Mum’s property – but there are going to be lots of dogs. 3 to be exact. Which will be interesting since they’re all very young, and very rambunctious. And here’s one I prepared earlier.

Just for you Lilith. I couldn’t find any soft toys to arrange anywhere in a humorous manner, so I got down Dad’s old racing helmet (from when he raced cars). It’s a bit battered around, as you can see. Mainly because in 1958 or thereabouts, he had a major crash at Bathurst, and almost died. Which might not sound terribly funny, and it’s not. The physical stuff healed, mostly, except for his “three tummy buttons” (he was sliced down the middle and everafter that’s what he called his long scar.) Anyway, I wanted to put it on for you, because I look funny, but also because it’s a stark reminder that sometimes, just sometimes, miracles happen. I send you hugs and hope that that photo is a bit of a pick me up, after the last day or so.

  • Capture: Roamin' Holiday,

Neither Ian nor I will be going anywhere much these holidays. Mum has a house to renovate before she moves in (well the tradespeople will do it like February xmas elves) so I'll be keeping her company less than I normally do over this period. And thanking my lucky stars that, unlike Xmases in the recent past, she isn't emotionally fragile, so I won't be required as much. Otherwise, Ruby and I will be making hay while the sun shines (hopefully), and celebrating her getting over a virus that has required a wee bit of isolation - more for the sake of human politics, than anything else - by making a return to the Big King, and Takapuna Beach, and other dog populated areas. Hoorah!

  • Hard News: Nobody wanted #EQNZ for Christmas,

Biggest of loves and hugs to you all, you beautiful Mainland people. Friend in Waimairi Bch reports that there's liquefaction all over the show, and despite knowing that her house is solid as a brick lavatory, she's outside and she says they're not going back in for a wee while.
