Where do you take her to run? Or is she over all that?

I love greyhounds. Beautiful gentle animals, they are.

Or could be, actually, that you are a fantastic dad, allowing them to develop healthy risk-assessment skills, which in my teacherly opinion, are sadly on the wane.

Yes. We had a swimming pool area that was roofed over, and my brothers used to jump from that into the pool. Only one tooth was ever lost. A miracle, really.

Oooh. Is this the one where I tell my story about going on a close friend's first date ever with the man who was destined to become her exhusband, and drinking southern comfort all night, and them having to come back in the tube with me to make sure I was safe, but before we got to my stop, I vomited copiously all over the carriage I was in, and they had to divert it with newspaper so it didn't go everywhere? Yeah, I guess that's the one. Not a big drinker, now, me.

Ruby was a year old yesterday, and spent her birthday in the company of my family. She was universally loved and had a wonderful time. This photo is of my nephew Sam – he’s 16 and a sweet sweet boy. He was very taken with Ruby, and she was very taken with him. Hence the long pink thing, which is her tongue, as she tries very hard to pash him.

Did you go for a swim? I drove backwards and forwards from Kumeu to Mt Eden a few times today, and noticed that the tide was WAY out.
