  • Hard News: The Orcon Great Blend 2010:…,

I was looking forward to my week in Auckland already. I now Can. Not. Wait.

  • Hard News: The Beautiful Pants,

I often think I would donate my tits to charity, if only someone would pay. :)

I'm pretty sure someone would, though I doubt it'd be for the right kind of charity.

  • Southerly: Confessions of a Social Retard,

I am always really wary of telling parents anything, cos parenting skillz, I have none.

But in the case I cited above, I was standing in a queue, and the woman in front me whacked her child on the wrist (as she did what kids will do, and tried to grab some lollies) and let forth with the kind of language that made me blush.

I pointed out that that wasn't appropriate language for a public place, let alone to a four year old. So, you know, she told me exactly what she thought of me.

  • Up Front: The C Word,

Now, that is what I call full use of real estate agent speak!

I once saw a sign for Upper Bryndwr. I've never been able to figure out how it wasn't Papanui.

  • Southerly: Confessions of a Social Retard,

Can I call a bit of a 'NO WAI' on that? (Also known as 'bullshit'.) I think reactions to that particular situation would vary widely depending on personality, rather than some nebulous idea of national behavioural characteristics

Yeah, as a woman who is not a parent, who nearly got punched in a service station for deigning to tell a woman it might not be appropriate to talk to a child like that, I second Danielle's call.

However I am now working on a "there is no sexism in Italy" theory that I will propose to you all real soon.

The only man ever to call me baby without receiving a glare was Italian. Just saying.

  • Up Front: The C Word,

It was just either link to that, or bellow for Megan.

    Hey!

    or political science.

    Double hey.

But, yeah, Rich, as I explained over on that other thread, I'm informed it's kind of a rural look that has crossed over to the merivale ladies who lunch. Or, if you will, New Zealand's landed gentry.

When I first started university, I pretty much had a uniform of linen shirt with upturned collar, and some kind of scarf tied around my neck.

Thank God Emma had already left, is all I can say.

Beware anyone who has learned Accusations of False Consciousness, though. Run from them until you've mastered the counters.

Is there some kind of cheat code for this?

  • Up Front: The C Word,

Yes, and yes. But there are particular abilities and advantages that can transfer across both classes and really help out, like being observant, and a good mimic, and having great boobies.

And therein is the secret to my success. (bwah-ha-ha)

    Oi, I'm a council worker! I know stuff'n'shit... :)

    Prove it. :)
