  • Discussion: Uncivil Rights,

The Sgt on nights routinely wears their holster without pistol around these parts.

The distinction of STG over AOS is an interesting development.

CTAG are the ones that really concern me, you get all the guns and all the spooks off on their own fantasy trail in the Uraweras.

We don't have an internal terrorist threat and we certainly don't need these new internally focused armies.

Upskill all cops to the minimum requirement of an E class gun license; have Braod shot by tazer & condements; oh and pass his fitness test; and I'll be very happy.

@Stephen, I can't recall ever giving money for missionary work, but Ministry work definately serves a purpose which is often what the collection plate is for.

@Peter, I'm a bit of a Catholic and so these types normally leave me alone once I say that. See they don't want me, they want you :p

I am into Sci Fi and so should find out more about Joseph Smith & the Scientologists.
What if, Joseph Smith encountered Scientologists in their true form? Tom Cruise as Joseph Smith, so Mormons are latter day Scientologists. Of course Smith was a Mason, cue Dan Brown & this is the Truth of the da Vinci codes!

  • Speaker: Rethinking NZ’s Emergency Aid,

The remittance issue also needs to address the 1965 repeal of NZ residency to Samoans.

If we seek to play a part in the Pacific, this would greatly strengthen our position and enable an increased ability for wider remittance payments to the islands, beyond aid.

When we look back to our impact upon Samoa by massacre and diease, sorry doesn't cut it, but this would.

Those bible stories make more sense when you see what Frankincense looks like.

I don't know what a neologism is but it sounds a bit like this to me.

    Bus ads are cheating.
I don't get to close the door on the well dressed, well meaning, and condersending missionaries - not fair.

  • Hard News: Not in front of the children,

The cultural appropriation of the swastika by europeans was a disaster.
The Scouts used it as a long service badge and it was used extensively by Anglicans in Christchurch prior to WWII & some Austrian failed artist, vegetarian liked it too.
The white middle class seem to be trying to rehabilitate it or appropriate buddist teachings. Robin Judkins has one painted on his front porch in Sumner.
I'm sure Dan Brown could add more to this.

  • Speaker: Rethinking NZ’s Emergency Aid,

The base level of existance is at desperate levels already for the rural poor in Fiji. By not funding Fiji as much as we should and nowhere near as much as they need, we're creating a pressure cooker, and that's the aim.
We have an image that basic life is easy in the islands, which is not true.
If you're still on your land/plantation, there might be some truth to that. The internally displaced living in shanties with no work and a collapsed economy isn't looking pretty.
OK we don't like what has happened there. We now need to decide if we want Fiji to be our Cuba or Haiti and are we their US or Venezuela.
