  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to Emma Hart,

Yeah, my mother’s house in Timaru is currently empty, but the cats are SO stressed, and the idea of putting them in the car and then keeping them locked in the house… too much.

Two words. Hot shower. The cats will adapt, surely? And the absence of aftershocks might help settle their nerves, as much as yours.

Honestly I think it's just amazing that people like David and yourself are coherent at all. As for writing his article on his phone at 2am, that should be worth a Qantas award on it's own.

    All the best.

Is it Ok to quote off other blogs?

    Joe Wylie wrote;

Gotta admit that trivial liquifaction issues have rather distracted my tiny mind from the noble struggle against the creeping tide of post-modernist backsliding.

Hey Joe, could you come and use up your brilliance over here? Glad you are Ok, but that thread hardly seems worthy of your comments.

Mind you, as we have now let it take hold of this one, guess we should revert to the issue at hand.

Sofie, hope your great Uncle is found safe and well, and it would be good to hear from, or about, Ian.

  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to Sacha,

Oh I give up. I'm going back to Facebook where people who hate my politics at least give me decent, rational, intelligent argument.

    Sheesh!

God that thread is hilarious. There isn't enough irony left in the world to cope. I hope she has irony-clad insurance.

$4.8b. It's got $6.5b, $1.5b is accounted for with September, another $1.5b is the "excess" on yesterday, that leaves $3.5b to cover whatever costs there are above $4.8b from yesterday.

I ran out of fingers. So that means they don't have enough money, right?

Sorry for the levity, I hope it doesn't offend.

I'm literally laughing through tears watching that. Others may beg to differ, but your timing seems just about right. Without some light relief, we'd all be damned to hell.

I’m going back to my blissful ignorance of his rants now.

    I feel I should apologise.

Going back a bit, Tamara and Stephen, thank you, that was much appreciated.

  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to Russell Brown,

I thought his reply to you was unnecessary quite frankly, quite apart from inducing an ironic laugh. I know he didn’t say it, but I heard “Do you know who I am?”

Anyway, sorry, we should leave this alone. Might step off the conveyer for a while, my heads hurting.

    Or do this.

As a former BMX racer, I think that would be empathy.

Say it once, fine. Over and over? Move away from the keyboard, dude.

Apart from disagreeing, too soon, surely? The ‘abuse of power’ meme usually takes more than 24 hours to come up, doesn’t it?

I may be mistaken but I seem to have seen a lot of “in reply to” comments lately that reference one person but are really to someone else, followed by an “I didn’t say that” response.

    +1

One thing that’s not really getting a lot of coverage is the decision to declare a state of national emergency.

You’ve perhaps been reading the same tirade I have. No comment.
