So a few people have kindly offered donations towards the cost of this week's upgrade of Public Address. I was going to give that a swerve, but have had some news that changed my mind.
If you're so moved -- and don't feel obliged to -- you can throw a little money in the hat here:

Righto. If you do feel moved to make a donation, that would be very welcome:

Time for a whip-around, I reckon
You know, I wasn't going to ask this time, but we've just had some household financial news that leaves me no choice if I'm to recompense CactusLab for their fine work. Hang onto your spare change ...

CBGB and the Mud Club probably – but what does it matter they and the Clash aren’t disco bands. In the words of Talking Heads:
“This ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco.”
The lines actually are:
This ain't no party, this ain't no disco,
this ain't no fooling around
This ain't no Mudd Club, or C. B. G. B.'s,
I ain't got time for that nowFace it, Dexter: you ain't gonna convince this here bunch of disco bunnies :-)

Am I being naive in thinking that the normal rights of authorship remain with the poster?
Oh, they do. But we'd need to carefully state that if we introduced a formal licence.

Also, I just noticed that there’s no sign of any of the Creative Commons rights stuff that got discussed in the Thread of Dooooooom[TM]. Whatever happened to that idea?
I was thinking about those issues last night. It does not escape me that we're now holding a lot of people's content here -- not just posts and comments, but increasingly their photographs -- and it's probably time to put some structure around that. But I don't think we can just flip the implicit licence people give us by posting into a CC licence.
Of course, if someone was to volunteer to get down some ideas around that ... ;-)

Oh good.
