I have a theory that the first story tellers used loaded words, made poem-tales - and so stuff got remembered...

Hard News: Drunk Town, in reply to
I’m guessing that people who live in places like Haast or Great Barrier don’t get to go to hospital for being really really drunk,
Most people who drink heavily on the Coast (dunno abt. Great Barrier- that scene is complicated by easily obtained & relatively cheap high grade pot) know how to
a)pace themselves-
b)drink as much water as you do drink booze-
c)are generally with mates. There are a substantial number of tourists who get shitfaced here, and they are the ones who have trouble. Locals, rarely- even the chronic alcoholics, in the main,-dont drive after drinking, dont get into fights, and dont go tease large toothy animals (as a loop did very recently, throwing stones at a guard-dog that had a longer leash than she expected.)

An uncomfortable subject for many men?
As a longterm but longago & sexually ambiguous barfly in
West Coast pubs, I found most males were happy to boast of - but
not really share- their sexual experiences with their mates in a
convivial atmosphere. They talked lovingly & knowledgably
about vehicles and guns with each other- -

I don’t think the supermarket idea would work and would inconvenience many people. From my experience teenagers buy their alcohol from liquor stores
That. Supermarkets dont have those supervisors running to check every sale of alcohol for nothing-

Just wanted to wave a flag for the good things SSRIs can do for some people. I wish I’d asked for them a lot
2 of my sisters and - especially- my mother - live normal lives BECAUSE of SSRIs.
They work, for a lot of people.
