  • Hard News: A nation bullied,

But what Britain now seems suddenly to be recovering from is a form of bullying sustained over decades.

What I keep seeing/hearing as I read and watch are the like of bubble bursts, financial crashes and housing prices drops. Eventually it comes to an end and something reacts.

I think GB has reacted. There is no doubt the dead girl's txts were the last straw. Even though these investigations have been going on slowly, they catalysed the reaction.

But. You won't sell 5 million papers with dry rotting corruption and investigative journalism. Page 3 and pants around the knees wins hands down.

A large(?) section of the human race are a bunch of paper buying voyeurs. 5 million out of 60 million anyway.

  • Hard News: About Arie,

Its even better than that. Let's see.....now here was one sides story of the building owners from the Defence (as Russell pointed out earlier):

The building owners were astonished and extremely concerned that someone had been prosecuted for the burglary, he said.

and from the later article we have the Plice version:

The owners of the property which was allegedly burgled were also happy with the way police had handled the case, he said.

I think we now need to know what the building owners say don't you think? Hearsay can be a little difficult to interpret at times.

  • Hard News: About Arie,

    From Herald

Christchurch police subsequently referred the matter to New Zealand's police headquarters who told local officers to refuse the option of diversion.

Can someone find out how high up that decision came from?

  • Southerly: Tower Insurance Have Some Bad…,

And here from Papers Past Nelson Examiner. Check the time it took for Nelson (! closest SI town to Wellington) to find out what happened. Tweets now make it ridiculously fast. Obscenely fast. Unthinkingly fast even....

But a more interesting and extraordinary phenomenon occurred (I say extraordinary, because no person appears to have observed it in the earthquake of 1848) : for eight hours subsequent to the first and great shock, the tide approached and receded from the shore every twenty minutes, rising from eight to ten feet, and receding four feet lower than at spring tides. One ship, I heard, was aground at her anchorage four times. The ordinary tide seemed quite at a discount, for tbe following day (24th) it scarcely rose at all.

  • Hard News: Radio NZ: Sailing on in…, in reply to Hilary Stace,

So the leaky homes saga will carry on. The earthquake will take precedence no doubt.
I had to laugh. "I'm sorry, we don't take interviews from lobbyists"!!!!! What a beaut.

Lots of duck shoving. Mayoral Chain Clanging. Maurice snivelling amongst the sawdust. And "We are trying to get people off benefits" from the hijacked PM. Real useful for a beneficiary with a leaky home.

But it did mention the slack standards implementing system that reeks of self interest and the OIA docs relating to Carter Holt pushing for the untreated kiln dried timber.

And the nats want to deregulate the place even more!!!

  • Hard News: A Capital Idea?,

Like shares where it is beneficial for a company only when selling the initial shares, the only worth put into a house is in the building of it. After that it is speculation. I know a "home" can last forever and it is socially desirable for a family to have a roof over it's head. But "investing" in property for the sole reason of waiting for the price to increase is out and out speculation. Renting is another kettle of fishy. Do you call renting landlords speculators or "service providers"??? Hmmm.

    Yes, bring on the CGT.

Copyright. Privilege. Dishwashers. Asshats. Cisgender. Ablist. Ablelist. Abelist....Shit... the speling.

I'll stick to dishwashers. Thanks for the tip about magnets. Separate the bloody knives, forks and spoons into their separate cubbyholes so that the d/washer emptier has an easier life FY.

I'm privileged. I'm alive. I do try and let others live theirs......honest.

I am getting a bit slacked off with the introduction of the grab bites. Those wee bits that "we are going to talk about shortly". They started this morning at 6-30am with the announcement to the Phonic Reading piece. It plonked 1 minute of it at 6-40am, a bit more at 7-35am for 3-30 min and then on the way to work at 8-20am a further piece for another 3 minutes.

I s'pose I now have to wait for Nights tonight to get the whole coherent(?) lot together.
