If you want really, really bad butter chicken, go to the set of shops at Airport Oaks. I think they add honey to it, and it is vile and as far from proper Indian food as you can get.

Funnily enough, I was having a conversation today about places that change hands and go to shit. (We were specifically speaking of the cafe that is still in where the "New Art Gallery" was/remains/whatever.) It seems to be the way. So how great to hear about a place that's gotten better. Incidentally, I've been wanting to try that Sal Rose for ages, but the menu always seemed a bit pedestrian. So I'll have to try it now.

Get the tapas every time. That's what they do best. And quickly. The calamari, the haloumi, the little fritters are all lovely.

I love Soul. Love, love, love it. If you 're going to go to Dominion Rd, though, I would always head to Tasca. I love it there. They're friendly, and efficient ( I can't speak for the Newmarket one. I was there once with some fine fellows from this parish, and it was a bit, um, lacksadaisical), and the food is great.

Hard News: Dropping the Bomber, in reply to
If it's any consolation, Danielle, after extensive polling at the dog park (well two other people, since it's such a rainy night) you are not alone. This woman said that there are people who see Key for who he is (she called it his shadow side) and those who don't. For those who don't, what they see is something that isn't charisma, but whatever it is, she said she thought that sort of "adoration" for lack of a better word, turns quite quickly into the negative, and will, eventually. It's just when that worries me. And another friend mentioned that they had wondered why there was an article in the Herald this morning ( I think the one on business during the RWC? ) that was critical of Key's govt. And then clicked that it was probably because the Herald had been banned from Parliament. All of which discussion sounded completely credible to me. There is something masked by his apparent affability, and it scares me. So no, you are certainly not the only one.

Every weekend morning, Ruby and I make our way to Takapuna Beach. And for the duration of the tournament, the car park has been stuffed full with campervans (as have the streets around the road leading to the beach), and the Takapuna caravan park is chocka. These things, and the fact that there are large amounts of people speaking in foreign tongues (and in the case of the French, always dressed very nattily) strolling along the beach, would suggest that this is where the foreigners are. In campervans. Having a lovely holiday, many of them with their families. Possibly avoiding town. Takapuna is busy, busy, busy – so I suspect that it may be just the CBD and environs that’s suffering.

I was very impressed with her. She knows her stuff, and she's passionate. Very bright future in politics, I would say.

Oh yes, David. I have used it on Windows but it was not a comfortable fit, IMVHO. Because our stories are graphic rich (shitloads of photos IOW), Mac is it, for me.
