  • Hard News: What about that Welfare…,

Concern trolling indeed. There are 1700 people with this problem. The WWG and the large nasty&stupid section of the population want to put the boot into all to reflect their ignorant prejudices.

  • Hard News: I'm not a "f***ing cyclist".…,

My theory is that NZ drivers are aggressive to the point of psychopathy. There is no sense that they have to share the road with others - cars, much less cyclists.

A general socialisation (political correctness GONE MAD) advertising program is probably needed over a series of years. Re-testing drivers every 5-10 years for driving skills is almost certainly part of the answer.

Simon's site needs a link update on the sidebar too.

Also, reading one's comments from years ago induces a degree of nostalgia.

And I’ve hated every single site redesign since Gutenberg. - Giovanni.

I had to turn the screen-brightness down, because the large white space was giving me headaches. I'd hate to think that what it would be like with AdBlock enabled. The font doesn't quite feel right, but I wonder if that's just a function of excessive familiarity. First and last are a little confusing.

Those are the extent of my gripes, but otherwise it's very much nice and easy.

  • Hard News: Rolling back the right to silence,

Nice to see that Labour have finally toughened at little on this bill they wrote. It is a rights disaster in so many aspects - and most of these have until now had the full support of Labour. I'd be interested to know what exactly they are opposing now.

Nevertheless, it will become law. I can only hope that at some point in the future the most egregious parts of this will be repealed.

Our tunnel is so long you can jam through it at 250kmh, and it will still take 12 minutes to finish.

They also have a tunnel that something very tiny travels through at the speed of light, which causes an earth-shattering explosion that reveals the secrets of the universe.

  • OnPoint: Did you know we're in a recession?,

How much traction do you think it'd get?

Well, you'd have an article which said - English says this is true. The opposition disputes this.

The core problem is that we have an opposition who are really terrible at communications.

No, the core problem is that we have an opposition who are unable to entertain New Zealand's facile media.
