OTOH can you imagine the outcry from football fans if TVNZ had decided not to cover the football against FSCKING BRAZIL, BABY
Agreed. Can't keep everyone happy all of the time. I'm a complete football nuffy, and I was pretty happy with the Brazil game and seeing Ronaldhino trying on his party-tricks, although I also would have liked more frequent updates on the cycling. A second channel devoted to the games would make a lot of sense.
By the way, also got to give our womens football team massive props. They were awesome (and soooo unlucky) against the world champions Norway in a game that they could (and should) have won. We have a genuinely world-class womens football team, how cool is that?

as for oil, for cooking, use anything
Sort of. Virgin oil lacks much of the nutritional goodness of extra virgin, and olive pomace oil is muck that actually no one should eat.
Honestly?, try avocado oil. Higher smoke point, more nutty/buttery taste, and supposedly easier on the heart

For anyone else planning to go to the Food Show, I'd like to shamelessly spruik Olivado's avocado oil
Its fine oil, and say hi to Pip if you go along for a tasting.

But, is there a decent 2nd five in NZ who can kick?
Stephen Brett?

Bring Back Jerry!.
But seriously, poor old Sione, that performance is destined for folklore.
It was just like watching the Crusaders playing the Hurricanes.
I’m glad I didn’t hear it, but apparently Phil Kearns spent the whole game proclaiming that the AB’s were offside (as if Nathan Sharpe wasn’t spending all his time standing next to Ellis) and that the Wobbly scrum was starting to dominate (rather than Baxter just kneeling down every time the ball was put in).

Dr Dragan 'David' Dabić/ Radovan Karadžić's email address:healingwounds @ dragandabic . com
Ooh, I'm with Alistair, thats creepy.
As for drummers, I was listening to some Stone Roses earlier today, and have to say that the baggy early 90's shuffle as pioneered by Reni still sounds pretty darn good.
And Gary Brain, yes! - the big man made a few visits to Naenae College to get us all enthused about making percussion noises in metalwork :)

I recently watched 'Bridge To Terabithia' with my 8 year old daughter, not knowing anything about the story.
When the <spoiler alert> film shifted 3/4 of the way through from an entertaining fable about the power of childhood imagination to something infinitely more sobering and adult, we were both absolutely blindsided (and having recently lost someone very close, quite devastated).
This led to a parent/child conversation about love and loss and friendship - I don't know if Mia will remember the discussion, but I sure will.
Mia and I then resolved to read the book, knowing that it was regarded as a classic. Although we probably did things the wrong way around (film then book) I am inordinately pleased to report that the film really does do the book justice and capture the same themes and messages, and pack the same emotional wallop.

What worries me, is my own immediate response to the loss in the weekend.
A brief shrug of the shoulders, a couple of "ah well, rugby was the winner on the day, Sth Africa probably deserved the win on balance, etc etc", poured myself another glass of wine, and the conversation in the room moved onto other topics (like Tony Veitch).
Perhaps that is (and I'm only speaking for myself here) the sad sad truth about the oversell and over-promise of last years RWC cosmic joke. Losing doesn't hurt as much
And, while the 3 Wise Men wouldn't admit it unless it was a cold day in hell, I thought we missed Jerry in the weekend.

Westpacs are supposed to be authentic
I can assure you at least one of the Westpac ads is authentic, the subjects (hubby and wife) being friends.
But by and large I agree with Damian, while real people would be better, fake people are just so much easier to find:)

Nor for Roger 'Nike/Rolex/Prada' Federer.
Off topic, but the latest Federer ad, featuring our very own Rhys Darby, is excellent
