Hard News: "Because we can", in reply to
They’re presenting the numbers so as emphasise dependence over mobility.
it would be hard to not see recent numbers being produced as anything but a well-orchestrated campaign to soften up the disgruntled middle classes.

I do find $25 for an actual organic chook a bit steep most days.
holy moly. i don't blame you. for that kind of money you should set up a chook house. you can buy the wee ones for $8, grow them, and have the dubious "pleasure" of killing them yourself.

everyone has their own favourite supplier, but the indian spice shop in newlands is pretty unusual. they have cinnamon bark, which i've never seen before. and that's not your cinnamon quills, it's big, fck-off chunks of bark. it's more resinous than quills, and doesn't have the dried, powdery consistency other cinnamon imparts. then there is the variety of spices, flours etc. the indian place in petone has a wider range, but the guys down the road are more fun.
was in there one day and a girl started to ask the lady behind the counter where some sort of "X dahl" was. the lady looks and asks, "do you mean X dahl or Y dahl? Or Z dahl? never mind, hold on." next thing she's on the phone to the poor girls mum, and gets off the phone saying, "you definitely need X dahl".
community. you can't beat it.

holy crap. this film was a big influence on me. when a friend overseas was killed in a crash i used the symbolism learned in this film (and a bit of other background) to explain to his dad what may have happened to his soul.
you'll be pleased to know there is a weather wane of a heron above a chimney in east texas that continues to provide comfort to a grieving father, and it's largely your fault.

porridge and muesli, non-stop, year-round. and that's oats with oat milk on it.
in a strange irony, i intensely dislike the bagpipes.
