As I understand it, the Greens were in a bind - they could only get National to support their ammendments (all the ones they had passed), or allow them to be part of the process if and improve the bill if they actually voted for the legislation. Now this is a pretty fucked up way for a government to make legislation, but the Greens haven't done themselves any favours by not clearly explaining the constraints they were under.
Edit. I've just seen Russel Norman's blog post. Now I'm pissed off. National and Labour opposed pretty much everything, but the Greens still voted for it. Idiots all round.

Super, we could all become pen friends :-)
I've got the hashtag: #PAmeetup.

Wow. Faces, names, in the same place. It would have been even better to enjoy the presence of these wonderful people, but the photos are great all the same!

Otherwise, from the #ogb stream it sounds like a brilliant night. I hope you all enjoyed it!

Oh look - Lance Wiggs tweeted a photo of the new look Public Address. How very very exciting!
I think Giovanni's riposte may be the correct one.
It looks like Twitter! Kill me now.
I've really enjoyed the simple and functional UI. I hope it isn't replaced with a cluttered one - increased functionality might be one thing, but there's a beauty to ideas expressed clearly in black text.
I'd also like to add that if Lance Wiggs is in favour, I'm against it.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see (I'm trying so hard to believe ) -
Some good news to report today - we're lucky to be living in a country that shares the milk of human kindness. Ranked first equal in the world for generosity, both financial and other forms of giving. (with our Australian neighbours).

In 4 years living in Wellington, I always thought of earthquakes as entertainment. The house shaking, the low noise. A low risk novelty, like high winds or excessive rain.
I've yet to have them turn into an object of fear, but I'm beginning to suspect that transformation is approaching.

I expect it depends largely on circumstances. For instance, if your toom features a big sturdy solid wood table, I'd be getting under that, but if it's some cheap kitset Warewhare job, or no table at all?
I have a glass table. Should I shelter under that?
Jokes aside, I'm glad that Christchurch features precious little of those glass panes in the roof that seem to have become common recently. They may be good for lighting, but I'd hate to have a bed anywhere near one.

Yes, it must be my personal vendetta with the broadcaster. What other explanation could there be?
You want to join me with pitchforks? I'm back again for a bit this summer.

sorry Craig, you and teh Natz don't get off that easily. You've enjoyed the association too much. Some of us still remember that gorgeous (dahling) photo of the man with Melissa and John last year. You lie down with a dog, don't moan about fleas.
I'd like to have you tell me when I've enjoyed something oh so much. Casual homophobic slurs are great fun too.
One thing about Craig I respect deeply is the fact that if he has an opinion, he'll share it (often in unique detail). If he can't do that, he'll shut up. And he's shared his opinion on this subject in the last couple of years, and I suspect he'll continue to do so, if he's not accused of being a disingenuous fake.
