In any case, the alternative to calling somebody an Aspie is calling them "people who have Asperger's disorder", which is more the equivalent of calling a hamburger a "patty of ground beef in a bun with lettuce, tomato sauce and sliced gherkin" when you go to McDonald's.

No, it doesn't. Although the wording of this news item sent alarm bells ringing in my head last week.
"The New Zealand officers spoke to the man and introduced him to their Australian counterparts." You've got to wonder if the introduction included tea and biscuits.

I guess what I'm asking is: does TVNZ have to return a profit, or does it have to return the maximum possible profit short of broadcasting hardcore porn? Because surely it could return a bit less of a profit in exchange for funding one hour and a half a week of current affairs programming pitched at people with an IQ in the human range.

I expect the police to find that solid evidence. It is, to put it bluntly, their fucking job.
Suspect is with officers A, witnesses testify he didn't appear bruised going in, he was bruised comnig out. That's not a difficult case to make. If suspects are officers A and B, and they cover each other's arse, it becomes marginally more difficult - but surely there are disciplinary procedures that would allow to censure both officers in such a scenario.
I would also expect that this investigation would be carried out regardless of the victim's desire to resolve the situation with a minimum of fuss. It's not about Arie's wishes or his family's, it's about protecting the public from abuse.

No, I don't think I am. I am making a separate claim than the one that the institutions are inherently violent.
What claim is it? Other than basically saying that liberals who may feel some outrage at what is likely to have happened here are raging hypocrites? I don't think there is room for that kind of glibness in this story, to be entirely honest.

I never said that without the threat of prison violence people would run riot(or some such nonsense) nor did I suggest it is an explicit part of the sentencing process. I am saying that you can't have police, courts, and prisons without the violence that necessarily goes along with that. It's meant to be frightening.
You're confusing the violence inherent in the system with police brutality or prisoner rape. They are two different things. Police, courts and prisons are the violence. You probably should have stayed till the end of that anarchist meeting, eh?
