  • Legal Beagle: Now it's up to you,

I have never been confused about this one,. I have always loved MMP. I love the diversity it brings to parliament, and I also love being able to vote electorate AND party. But I love the way you've done that, Graeme. Good man!

Ah, your mum. What an incredibly difficult area to work in - in the 70's or so I'm guessing? I remember when the dayclinic in Epsom was controversial, when women flew to Australia for abortions,....sexual health in NZ was a fraught area in those days.

I could have used someone like you when I was in my early 20's, Lucy, and gaily gadding about, mostly sans prophylactic devices. Knowledge is a powerful thing, and I didn't have much, as far as body and soul safety went, in those days.

For the first time since the RWC started, I had a wee taste of things outside my house, yesterday. I travelled back from my Mum's house, got off at Western Springs, and could see St Lukes Rd was chocka, so went the back way, to Mountain View Rd, and then up onto Western Springs Rd, to go down onto Morningside Dr. Which was apparently shut (although there were cars going down there), so up the hill and through Kingsland (which was churning with traffic and people) and all the way up New North Rd, up to Mt Eden Rd. I guess I should have checked the road closures, eh?

All I can remember of any sex ed at school- 1979, age 15, mind – was our biology teacher showing us how long an erect penis “normally” is , with the help of a ruler. And no, I don't recall the measurement.

Oh, but of course. Most of the time with the reasoning. But sometimes? Just because I say so. I also do an awesome line in frosty voice and facials.

I think you're entirely right. At our venerable little kindergarten, I have jazz/classical/Cafe del Mar etc just as background for the kids. Sometimes we have a boogie, often times they go and get the instruments and bang away. As for civics, I like to think that our entire time with them is about being a good human being, and forming and maintaining healthy and nonharmful relationships. Also, we're all about the zen. Something no-one ever covers in education is the importance of being rather than doing. So we encourage calm, and contemplation. I think it works well.

I always loved that they had that sort of relationship. Mainly because they fought like cat and dog, so as long as the bedroom door was shut on occasion, I knew everything was okay.
