After about the third Mexican wave, stop joining in, and start covering your head with your arms to protect it from the beer.

I still don't get why people would throw away their beer. (though I suppose beer is a very loose term for what they serve at the Caketin

Nope, you stick with them for that rare moment, when you least expect it, that they actually pick their sorry arses up and roll one of the big boys.

As a Bay of Plenty supporter I know exactly what you mean. Winning the Ranfurly Shield off Auckland was the best moment of my tenure as a fan.

That guy commenting on the Dropkicks though was a cock

so the women's tennis at ASB didn't get a look in? TV1 has it on most of the afternoon?

Would've but it hadn't started until I had to go back to work.

C'mon, the man is dealing with a whole new paradigm. He's on a journey...

Joining the discussion from the end, I thought you were talking about Hadyn going to the cricket.

Ha! That's about right. I even had to ask my friends where the best place to sit in the Caketin was (for a long cricket game)

I reckon the foremost commentators on NZ rugby are the Dropkicks, Grant Fox, Spiro Zavos and Tracey Nelson.

    Aw shucks

and finally, the first tie in the NFL since 2002

Also yes, I am going to the ODI at the Caketin, thanks to all who asked.

Should I be prepared for a NZ win or a loss? (or one of those draws you hear so much about)

In American Football, the "greatest game ever played" was the 1958 NFL Championship Game between the Baltimore Colts and the New York Giants. And everyone knows it...

Ha! That's funny, because as you wrote it I was thinking "he better say the Giants and the... oh he did!"

Oh and anyone who can't get into American football is welcome to watch the Superbowl with me. Megan (of the Dropkicks) did last year and is now a convert.

  • Field Theory: A competitive competition,

Isn’t there a cricket test on?

    No I don't think so.

  • Field Theory: A competitive competition,

Not to get pissy on Christmas Eve but:

If you answered "a close competition" then you are in agreement with most sports fans around the world.

    Say's who?

    ...

People want to see skill. Even these statisticians have selected - MLB, NBA, Super14, EPL, NFL - the apex competitions of all club competitions. They have waved some bogus closeness wand over these, meh.

The most annoying thing for a researcher is when they present their findings and someone says "that's not what I reckon" like that discredits the whole thing.

    Otumoetai College, 90s

Only wagged a few classes here and there, often to go get Georgie Pie. The school had this weird policy that in 7th Form you could leave the school at lunch time and in study breaks and go anywhere you wanted but the only place you weren't allowed to go was the dairy just across the road.
