I'm not overly familiar with sentencing at all, and American sentencing in particular.... but 15 years seems rather high, no?
I think Graeme should have the last word on this bit, but:
Simpson got a 15-year sentence for the armed kidnapping, which by Nevada law means he'll be eligible for parole in five. However, he also received two additional one-to-six-year sentences that would be served after his first term ends, whenever that is. This means that at the absolute minimum, he will be in jail for the next eight years (and probably more like 10 or 11.)
I think the minimum sentence for the kidnapping charge is eight years. But again I'll wait to hear from Graeme

I only remember him in the Loaded Gun movies though. But his acting CV is pretty lengthy.

I didn't mention it but there have actually been calls for OJ to be removed from the Hall of Fame, as players are inducted not just for playing ability but also for their "contribution to the game". Some, such as John Madden, feel OJ brought the game down and so should be ... um... unducted(?)

I know. What's worse is this weekend I couldn't help but stare at people who were wearing sports jerseys with a critical eye. This included glaring at a small child in a New England Patriots jersey

nothing better than throw-backs. But I'd also like jersey patches. My BoP jersey has a B&I Lions patch on it.

Why do they need new strips every year again?
They update the jerseys every two years. And last year's strips weren't the best anyway.
Using the Crusaders as the obvious example, why have a different strip to avoid colour clashes, but then include a huge body of the home colour on the back panel?
Actually the Crusaders are the only ones to have done that. And it's a very good question. Especially considering that the Crusaders are going to be the team that will "clash" the most.

So you're against league play then? The idea that a winner is crowned after a certain number of matches. Because that will often happen in tournaments, that a team will lose to the crap teams but step up against the big guns (see the Warriors in league).
The problem with the World Ranking is that there's no bloody cup for it! If we got a cup for it then we might be happier.
Oh and there are a number of reasons why people hate the tri-nations but none of the reasons are because it says who the best Southern Hemisphere team is (excepting poor Argentina, stupid SANZAR)

It's a trophy defence with only two possible winners, though, so there isn't a lot of toing and froing. It's a matter of remembering that we had between year X and year Y, then they had it for a year, then we had it again, etc.
Well yeah, except you remember the team who won not necessarily the year they won it. So you might remember us winning the Bledisloe but not recall the year we did it in or how long we held it before we lost it again. Did I explain that right?
don't tell me that being the best team right now means the same as being the best team last year, ie the winner of the World Cup.
I actually think we were the best team last year. And if not we were second best by a whisker.
Despite NZ losing in the quarters to France, South Africa had to beat Fiji, Argentina and England (and the only convincing victory was over Argentina) to get ahead of us in the official rankings. After the World Cup they held the #1 status for three games before we took it off them.
