I'm wondering how that relationship will change if (when?) driverless cars are common...I presume that bad parking, speeding and other entitled but "fun" activities will not be possible.
Will driverless cars lead to the love affairs being over?

Yes...AT are learning...and you learn nothing unless you try, make mistakes, and try to do better next time.
I've been cycling (again) in London recently...and though it is of course very different from Auckland there are some lessons there too, the main one being that once you get through the painful part, people really respond positively, and suddenly you have cycle traffic-jams (surely the mark of success for a traffic planner :) ). The CSs (Cycle Superhighways) are amazing...but very expensive, and worth every penny.

And if they are allies of the Greens, why pressure them to go with the Nats and not Labour?

Yes it does suggest NZ employers don't pay well...because in the same article ....
Mr Sahrawat said the pool of local talent was already low as highly trained New Zealand chefs and other hospitality workers were opting to work overseas.
Opting to work overseas might be for the experience and more interesting work and lifestyle...but it might also be because the pay here is so poor.

Yes we have them in Hamilton :)
No roadside signs showing them like in CHCH though...just the green-painted box on the road in front of the crossing traffic (i.e. the traffic waiting in the direction you want to turn in).
HOWEVER....someone from the road-painting company has not been told about I feel....since the cycle silhouette and the hooked arrow are painted the wrong way (90 degrees out) in many cases :(

Maybe their software sophistication is changing, though.
I say this only because one of the speakers we invited to APSEC 2016 at Waikato last year had been working for Samsung...and he's just been snapped up by Uber.
He's a very smart person who deals with designing very sophisticated methods for finding errors in things like non-deterministic programs (very hard!).
Not sure what he'll be doing for Uber, but their days of not-very-smart programming might be ending.

One food thing I remember from being a kid was the ritual around the making of the Christmas pudding.
Mum always used to make them from scratch (well, apart from the ready-glacéd cherries and dried fruits…and beer…and suet…and flour…but you know what I mean…) and that meant a week or two of the mixture sitting in a washing-up bowl (only thing big enough for around a dozen puddings).
But the most important thing was that everyone in the family having at some point to stir the mixture (quite a feat…it was a huge mass, sticky, heavy, dense…and when you’re about five years old its quite a task :) ) and *make a wish* before it was put into white pottery basins, covered in greaseproof paper circles and then aluminium foil and stored away until needed.
