It was close - not much in it - the greatest game - a classic - the best sport can be - now lets see if the other semi and the final can live up to this semi.
I heard this and and I thought - Key making deals with the devil in our name - wonder how long it is before his debt is called in.
The Cohen payment trainwreck and the Shearer appointment (though he is likely the most qualified choice) indicate the tipping point looks likely sometime late in 2017, perhaps even well into 2018.
Where one is going to plead in the court of equity one needs to have clean hands.
The passage of time, some four months, over the Cohen invoice is quite damming.
Sky City at their “last AGM” described the Convention Centre deal as having "nailed it" - the form of the "it" is still percolating - Sky have the TVNZ site which they have coveted for quite sometime – my question is what is the "real" next step or series of step.
The apparent funding back down fronted by Joyce comes after a poll result on Campbell Live attracting 10,000 votes, of which 97% were against further Govt funding of the Con Centre.
Does that make Campbell Live the effective opposition, I ask?
The tipping point will come, but only at that time where Labour present as a credible opposition.
One wonders - at least I do - with the mass surveillance by governments of it's citizens – as exposed by Snowden - what is the future of democracy - how will it be shaped - it disturbs me - I am unsettled by the thought - then I go off to work.
Looking at the vast numbers that do not vote - are they smarter than me having reached the conclusion earlier than I - that the appearance of democracy - an election every three to four years - just doesn't matter - the machinery and intentions of government chug on regardless of the worth of a person's vote.
Being a free citizen in a democracy what is it's worth.
Mass Surveillance of citizens is not the business of a democratic government.
Keys is crafty at what he does - however - what he does is not what he
should be doing.
Key, the Nats, are masterful at taking a position of strength, being the government, and negotiating/legislating to a position of absolute weakness and liability for the tax/rate payer.
The con centre will bring a swinging velvet lounge non stop disco party to benefit Sky City and although you ain't invited you sure as hell are going to pay for it - Party on Suckers.
I was hoping someone would say that. New Zealanders and their renovations - this could be the most contributed to thread in the history of PAS.
La Moyenne Bourgeoisie desire a different kind of buzz, It intrigues me how some "houses" in the "central city" of Auckland suffer from the fever to renovate.
A house in Ponsonby I know of has changed hands three times in five or so years and has had three kitchen/bathroom renovations - A Villa in Mt Eden that had rimu slat blinds - these were all taken out and replaced with a white synthetic heavy slat blind - the house lot of rimu blinds ended up in the bottom of a skip under the general debris.
It is en vogue to punch out the back of a villa or bungalow and replace a gentle lean to with a loud "beach style" extension - often tasteless an impractical particularly so if the arse end of the house is facing south.
As long as the ppty market defys gravity and the banks are lending there is no cure.
Proof of Labour's plot to Kill Slater.
let’s make Jesus leader of the Labour party because it seems that is what it will take to please some people.
There have been a revolving door of Jesus’s over the last two years – each one of them crucified by the party that lost touch with the electorate.
Labour could not win an election set against the revelations of Dirty Politics – largely because they could not present as a cohesive govt.
That Key made a mistake and admitted it is not the issue upon which to focus.
I stand by what I said earlier – Labour need to do better. Goff may have undermined any perceived advantage – presently both Lab & Nats are crapping into the fan. We will see what happens next week.
Goff going to the media with details of the report before it is released is stupid, to deny he has done so further compromises the opposition stance critcally letting Key off. If "this" is done with Little's knowledge/blessing then it is doubly stupid.
Even though Key came across in the house as a total prick, Little's perforamnce in the house could be better - Labour has to take the Key Govt to task more on how they are failing against the frame work of what they should be doing. Little has to avoid being Mr Shouty.
