  • Field Theory: They're talking to you,

having cricket on pay TV might hurt cricket more than other sports, simply because of the length of time it takes to play.

I had this exact conversation yesterday, I'm freeviewing it sans Sky but was considering getting Sky solely for the cricket however given that most matches are played when I'm at work anyway and it is a long day I'm not that interested.

I can't tell you how excited I was to see the 4th game on Prime but that just heightened the sense of betrayal I felt when yesterday's wasn't.

  • Island Life: Keynote speaker: Paula…,

    little miss solo mother

    Yeah not cool dude...

Sorry, but it might be useful if the blue sky thinkers actually got out of the seminar room and spent a little more time down where those clever flow charts and mission statements have to be translated into tangible results.

That seems to be a piece of blue-sky thinking from you sir, how exactly does one do what you suggest?

  • Field Theory: Sing when you're winning,

New Zealand has created hundreds of perfectly singable songs that would be perfect during sports matches

I spent a boring afternoon at work assigning country's new national anthems rather arbitrarirly and I thought it would be f*cking awesome if we sung "Why does love do this to me" as ours.

If only for the line where noone's quite sure what Jordan sings.

South Africa got the Circle of Life from the Lion King.

  • Island Life: Key and the 'nesians,

depends what you mean by "safe".

Well I'm hoping that they'll cull the public service comms team, then we can be rehired as contractors at twice the rate we were on.

    Yay business efficiency!

  • Hard News: Prospects,

(I'm prepared to feel more optimistic if Giovanni offers one of those sure-fire predictions of a left-led government that he used for Obama)

  • Hard News: Prospects,

I have less fear this election than I did last time. I'm sorta resigned to some form of right-wing government being formed but I comfort myself with the (potentially naive) thought that whomever wins, they will do what they genuinely believe is best for New Zealand.

  • Hard News: History is now,

I think we all know what this election result means for us...
