  • Up Front: The Classics Are Rubbish Too,

Catch 22 took me six months to read the first time I read it (and I usually mow through a book in a weekend) and I hated it. Didn't get it.

    I was 13.

Then I reread it when I was 16. Same deal.

Then when I was 20 I picked it up and couldn't put it down. Read it in one night and my god. What a book!

  • Hard News: Rationalisation is at hand!,

it has been conceived in a lonely hotel room under an accusing naked bulb.

That is my favourite sentence I have read in weeks.

As a PR man, that has me in awe. Kudos.

  • Hard News: The Debate and Onwards,

I gotta say, I'm starting to feel really sorry for Sarah Palin, she is obviously so far out of her depth and it now just appears bloody mean spirited of the McCain campaign for having picked her.

No person deserves to be held up to this sort of ridicule.

The sooner this election is over the better...

  • Hard News: The Debate and Onwards,

Or maybe Bristol's wedding to Levi will trump all. For. Fuck's. Sake.

People keep saying McCain is running the most dishonourable and vicious campaign ever.

I think it's more likely the most retarded campaign.

Having said that, are we surprised that POTUS campaigns are now this disingenuous? And if it does work and somehow McCain does win the election, do we say that they deserve what they get?

  • Hard News: We also predicted the…,

"I'm also pulling for a Republican win"

Did anyone else see McCain's 'performance' on the view? Dear god why aren't all journalists like that group of women? They at least asked some proper questions.

I believe Whoopi's "do I have to worry about slavery again?" should be the mantra of the dems

  • Field Theory: Out-yelled by Children,

Sorry, just an attempt at humour

I got it. Then I laughed.

Then I beat my kids about it.

  • Hard News: Awesome,

It's going to be a thing of Lyndon Johnsonesque proportions. You mark my words.

My rugby watching mates and I have a rule whereby whenever Dan Carter lines up a kick, we abuse the shit out of him, his kicking ability, the way he's wearing his hair, whatever we can think of to ensure we don't hex him.

Giovanni my friend, I hope you haven't commited the ultimate hex.

  • Hard News: Awesome,

Because I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking: America, please don't fuck this up.

Oh god I totally agree with you, you just sit there open mouthed gaping at the gallup website that tells you that McCain has pulled ahead for the first time since the campaign began proper.

But as has been pointed out, what point hope when a nation returns George Bush with a bigger (__nee__ actual) majority.

  • Hard News: A bit tacky, no?,

He is the son of a former President of the National Party

Droll....but I mean wtf!? Most Natty supporters I know aren't complete nutters.

Or at least they have some positive attributes.

And I had to go over and see what Whaleoil and his commenters were saying ... he really is a piece of shit, isn't he?

    Holy shit.

I've never visited his site before as for some bizarre reason it's one of very few blogs blocked at work but all this comment of it piqued my interest so I went via a proxy.

What a revolting individual. How does someone end up that warped?
