  • Cracker: Psst... buddy... got any BZP?,

    Should I pack my thermals?

    Yup!

Probably best to pick up a few more on the way down too :)

Having said that, don't forget Wellington at this time of the year is very much an indoors kind of place.

Is Brad Butterworth, blessed gentle flower that he is, an Aucklander by any chance?

    Lol, fair question.

Actually, he was born in that yachting hot-spot of Te Awamutu.

BTW, Te Awamutu boxes well above its weight in terms of famous NZers born there; not sure why.

  • Hard News: Not such as to engender confidence,

I saw The Proposition (at last) during the weekend.

I thought it was awful to be honest; gratuitious violence overdone, spoiling a plot with potential.

Shame, I rate Nick Cave as a musician.

  • Hard News: Here and There,

Fox isn't a bad analyst at all.

Especially when you consider he never watches any games....

  • Hard News: Here and There,

John Parker’s CEO (or similar) for Sport Waikato.

He was good; very understated. But it helped when you were bouncing off commentators like Richards and I. Gallaway.

The closest thing going round in radio cricket comments these days is Tony Blain, but it’s not as easy when you’re taking the lead from Alan Mac and Rrrrrrron Snowden.

  • Hard News: Here and There,

ESPN’s dumb-and-dumber coverage of European Soccerball is enough to put me off the channel for life.

RB; if it was valid for TJ to wax lyrical about the benefits of the reconditioning programme, why didn’t he balance that by noting that Kelleher had just been subbed because he was dead on his feet?

Not so sure about Smith though; seems to be less critical / observant than when he started.

  • Hard News: Here and There,

OK Michael F, I admit I skimmed through that U Tube clip, but I assume it was some kind of Crusaders promo clip???

So the guy I'd never seen before was obviously Reuben Thorne...

    But who were the rest?

  • Hard News: Here and There,

The Gordon Bray comparison to Mex and TJ (who sells himself so short) is fair enough.

So what's behind this trend then? PJ Monty takes it even further, even if on a more patronising angle.

It really annoys me that the "strategists" behind sporting covering these sports obviously feel your average viewer (remember we pay for most of it) is that think / one-eyed???

Can't they just have a separate feed for Cantabs???

  • Hard News: Here and There,

Paul Rowe, only thing is tat they’ve beaten us before when we’ve totally annihilated them in the scrum; a certain WC semi-final springs to mind

Good to see So’oialo finally getting the overdue credit he deserves. Not only is this arguably the best loose trio we’ve had (traditionally a strength too) but it would have to be the best balanced.
