  • Hard News: Stop the Enabling,

I agree all the law change did was remove a defence and this seems lost on nearly everyone.

The mass of the debate in the media is mindless and makes no difference to anything at all; the bulk of debate is centred on nothing and addresses no real issue.

Most of the pundits on either side are to busy admiring and polishing their own view to the extent they haven’t got to grips with anything other than themselves.

TV and Radio have over the last year spent a lot of time interviewing or promoting comment from people who have clearly not even read the law. Research budgets must be limited to $1.60 a day – which covers the cost of the Herald.

  • Hard News: Some Week,

Over the last decade the flavour and conduct of politics in NZ has become markedly dodgy and a lot less than one should expect from our elected representatives. Both sides of the house have problems.

The issues surrounding "Mr Bakshi" need to have legs; the way the figures are likely to stack up could prove interesting. It all seems to lean heavily towards a situation underpinned by dishonesty.

Is it as “bad” as “special interests” sponsoring legislation, gaining appointments or favours through donations to political parties?

  • Hard News: When that awful thing happens,

In response to Idiot Savant’s “Why, this is not America?”

In NZ drug dealers and manufacturers have drugs, lots of cash and weapons including guns.

If you are going to search a drug dealers house, a tinnie house, or P lab for that matter it would be wise to take guns with you.

  • Hard News: When that awful thing happens,

Like Russell’s mother, I turned the media machine off. The standard of journalism is substandard, there was a lot of enthusiasm for the words like cordon, arsenal, lock down, etc, etc What little substance there was quickly got lost in BS.

The 24 hours news cycle is often twenty-three hours of drivel and one hour of news.

When executing a search warrant on a drug dealer’s house I would have thought it would be standard practice for the police to be armed.

  • Hard News: From soundbite to policy,

If you went back and looked closely you would find Labour sucked just as much at the beginning as they did when they were dumped.

The Labout Party will now go back to raising grass roots issues and annoying, for want of a better word, "activists" to try and rebuild the vote.

When Labour eventually get back they will again step away from the issues of working people and play pretend as is their custom.

It is not as if they ever had a vision or the talent to realise such. Their crowning achievement is that they drove NZ into a recession a good year to 6 months before the GFC.

  • Hard News: From soundbite to policy,

It is not like one can expect politicians on other side of the house to act with any form of moral purpose other than prostituted self-interest.

The present National Coalition Government may prove to be just as legislatively deficient as previous Labour Coalition Government. In it’s grim under urgency final days the Labour Coalition removed from a bill which was in its third reading (the Breast Feeding and Rest Breaks Bill) the provision for Drivers (Bus and Truck Drivers) to be provided with rest breaks.

Drivers were the only industry/occupational class excluded – it is likely this amendment was sponsored/paid for by industry-interested parties.

Hmm who owns the biggest bus company?

In politics there is no moral high ground - it is all about what one can get away with.

    IMHO they all suck.

  • Random Play: The Key’s under the Matt,

    The Blame game

Some people take responsibility and blame themselves; most people blame their parents. Blaming the government is a clear indication the therapy is working.

Who then do the government blame? Hmm.

    The previous government of course.

  • Hard News: The odds, and the simply odd,

Hmm - "Clark, by contrast, was standing, smiling and enunciating every word like she meant it." Yeah Right.

Note to self - "Through Helen all things are possible, well at least good diction.”

Her appearance at the NZ Music Awards made me hurl - Rock Me Baby - she appeared to me like the proverbial grasping Scout Master plying select members of the troop with cheap alcohol.

Helen is an opportunist whose time is up.

This election is the lolly scramble for the damned.

  • Island Life: Vote BSOD,

The spreadsheet never lies - the tragedy is Labour lacks the talent to promote themselves or any idea above all of this - not that they have any real substance to promote.

Perhaps another rousing rendition of the Gambler; anyone?
