  • Hard News: Watching the Watchmen,

My theory was this: Like Cain (and us), the Caucasians began to encroach on the territory of their neighbors -- the Semites being their neighbors to the south. They began to water their fields with the blood of the Semites.

His theory sucks. He makes too much out of monkeys fighting over a waterhole.

  • Hard News: Watching the Watchmen,

Well I was kind of interested until this:

As an aside you might be interested to read his alternative theory on The Fall of Man, Cain and Abel, and the knowledge of good and evil:

Sorry the Fall of Man, is a biblical fantasy. We are the way we are because of our lowly origins, we are monkeys. Not because of we did something wrong somewhere and fell out of favour with some celestial dictator. The urban/rural divide has been the bane of humanity since foreva. Reading metaphors into biblical narratives is a mugs game.
The whole Daniel Quinn/Ishmael thing just looks dodgy.

  • Radiation: This Is Not My Dan Carter,

Apparently, in the future we'll finally be rid of the working class,

Maybe in the future that's what working class people are like.....
    who knows?
But despite video sanitisation of the human race I predict people will still come in fat, bald, old, disabled, exotically mixed or not, and a few other as well... to be shure.
Not certain about non-upper middle tho.

  • Hard News: Just pretend it's Friday already,

    "Big Leeks will inspire you"

Nice little item on Christopher Hitchens last night on Media 7.
His book is a fun read. But its a bit of a stretch at the end when he tries to claim he saw the WMD's in Iraq while there with Wolfowitz.

And Rachel Lang seems nice, if a bit defensive about her projects. Its only tele we are allowed to love or hate stuff for no good reason. And leave it at that.

  • Hard News: The truth about "Party Central",

    Sez Rudman

the new mayoral chambers seems set to become the 21st century Tower of Babel, rather than the streamlined centre of focused leadership we've been promised.

Or many dick's and dickess's in conservative garb, as opposed to a streamlined dick in a suit.

Sir Arthur Streeb-Greebling (Peter Cook): ... It was shortly after World War Two.

So it does exist ... in our collective imaginations.

I thought it is a more authoratative protest to write a letter

    Ooooo that's so sweet.

I can see it all now, as a Disney Epic.
    "Hold the press's" an' everything.....
And no, I'm not being scarky. I had a flash of a different time.
    Long gone now....

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

People are going to watch the rugby not the interior decorating.

And herein is my major disagreement with all rugby.
Not enough attention paid to the interior decorating.
Make of that, what you will.

Its all muscly braggadocio, false humility, and a whole bunch of New age cum marketing catchphrases that just look and sound wrong.
And as for the materials....well.... a remnant of our tribal selves rewoven, till its threadbare and a gross distortion of its original intent. Completely lost in a world that has changed around it unless gifted total adulation. And there seems no end of supplicants. No surprises there...eh!

Meh an' all the space aged, heat applicated, whizzbang go fast garb, just garish.
But it will look right at home with a couple of hay bales.
And 2000 men pissing into the sea.

I can't see why the $20 million is needed to be spent. What crowd do our civic and national leaders think they are catering to?

    Oh Word brother word!
