  • Cracker: A Whale of a Tale,

    4. When it comes to the MSM, I think everyone here wants more or less the same thing, ideally. It'd be a LOT easier to achieve if people stopped responding to the lowest common denominator content that has dominated in recent years.

And your not referring to people at the bottom of the economic heap I hope. Cause in some people's minds stupidity is invariably linked to poverty. But it seems commercialisation isn't having the uplifting effect on society some believe it would.

Let's not be surprised when a commercial network behaves in a way that maximises ratings

So one commercial enterprise pranked another one - not very well - IMO. I don't think outrage is the right response. But Breakfast will be credential checking like crazy now, another door close's.

An apropos of nothing, gee Boy is a great film.

  • Cracker: A Whale of a Tale,

(Disclaimer: I think Paul Henry is a talented broadcaster.

Are his talents wasted on morning tele then. I know nothing about his career. I was in many other countries as it evolved. Coming late to his telecareer he seems to be just another motormouth, who works better in a duo.

At times he can even be quite insightful,

So can a drunken bum at the right time, that's no unique quality.

  • Up Front: A Word in Your Ear,

*except for being asked to sing, I deeply hate being forced to sing.

Its the custom in many Pacific places to sing/to entertain your hosts in some way, not just with Maori. A group of us had fun in Kiribati with this custom. The locals were excellent singers. We put on funny costumes and made them laugh. All went well.

Its probably a good thing to add to your social skills, learn one song really well. Or go with someone who is a good singer/muso and let them carry you. (musically I mean)
Or be a fool for a few minutes.

There's also a fine line between being articulate and being a smug, patronising smart-arse.

Yeah, an' if anyone goes sesquipedalian on yo arse s/he ain't articulate.
    Right.

But we can try to be more aware of the problems of the inarticulate, more aware of our privilege, and more patient with their pathetic witterings.

Fuck that! Whoops was that the wrong thing to say.
Umm .....it's been tried and it failed. All it does is motivate a plethora of the inarticulate to form charitable trusts or churchs (see they may be tongue-tied, but they're interfering & avaricious) such as SST and those other thick fuckers starts with D, and in the United States of Oil .........Evangelicals and Teabaggers.

Oh were you being wry again, I can never tell with you and the good Doctor.
    In which case nevermind.
