  • Hard News: The Universal Intercept,

Do you mean dailykos? There's always been a strong anti-Clinton faction out there but there are pro-Clinton sites (or at least not so partisan) too such as TalkLeft.

I mean Americablog, Huffpo, Buzzflash and Kos: a really big netroots bloc between them -- three of them are probably in the top 10 political sites in the US. Honestly, at this point, if Hillary wins, the Dems' campaign is toast.

I want to put that on a t-shirt.

linger, that's OK though, because it's a cartoon strip. Every noticed that Homer Simpson is a complete bastard in pretty much every way? But he makes us laugh at him.

More than that, he makes us sympathise with him.

My kids understand him perfectly as an archetype.

__that someone who has a very long history of throwing around barbed insults at his political enemies perhaps doesn't occupy the moral high ground over liberal use of the B-word__

I have a problem with it. He's using bureaucrat in the pejorative without actually specifying what positions he means.

Ditto. It's me objecting. I have no idea what Michael Cullen has said about it, and it would make no difference to my view.

At any rate, "haters and wreckers" was uttered once (and generally quoted out of context), ditto "rich prick"; and "secret agenda" hardly stands out from the rhetoric the governing and Opposition parties hurl at each other.

"Bureaucrats" is simply egregious, meaningless spin, applied to people National aspires to lead. Key must have used it more than a dozen times in the one bFM interview.

  • Hard News: The Universal Intercept,

This is beyond 'scorched earth', and into Cathargo delenda est territory.. Her and her campaign have certainly given the McCain camp and the far-right enough soundbites to last all the way through to November, so she better win the nomination. Not least for the sake of her own reputation.

If the netroots mean anything, Clinton is destroying a little more of that reputation every day she carries this on. All the major Dem activist blogs are increasingly furious with the kitchensink stuff from her camp. Even if she did manage to pull off a nomination without winning the pledged delegates, she'd have destroyed all the goodwill and motivation in the base.

And according to Nancy Pelosi, Clinton also wrecked any chance of the "dream ticket".

    Clinton needs to stop, now.

    that mash-up is phenomenal. cheers.

It's made from two of the more mashed-up tunes of all time, so it has a head start there.

Credit to ol' Havo, who played it this morning.

He tried to pull a swifty by not saying the track name of who it was by, but that's hardly going stop me finding it.

I'm sorry to say that this is exactly the sort of response that I've come to expect from a Timaruvian. In fact, I believe Owen McShane has even written a paper showing that Timaru could have become a world class city ...

And isn't this so typical of the kind of vacuous PC nonsense peddled by you science types with your, well, science ...

sorry, the noob doesn't know how the quote thing works.

You had it right, except for a stray space in the tag to close the quote. Fixed now.

If you asked most NZers if they thought the work done by those in GSE should be done by people directly employed by the Ministry of Education most would say yes, I believe. I suspect there would be quite a few similar examples in other areas too.

My new-entrants teacher friend is pretty emphatic about the value of the special-ed advice from "bureaucrats" that has become available to her in the past few years.

It's just a stupid, perjorative word that advances no sensible argument.

Perhaps, but could the Government put up a more credible linguistic Miss Manners than Michael 'Rich Prick' Cullen?

That's something Cullen said in Parliament one day. This is a conscious attempt to raise public odium through the use of certain words.
