  • "The Terrorism Files",

Yeah. And I should add- only after evidence enough of a crime.

The "war on terror" is a rhetorical stupidity taken tragically in the wrong direction at every intersection. Calling it a war, calling the criminals responsible terrorists... we know the rest.

Bringing that to NZ is just lunacy in red pyjamas.

You might want to ponder who brought it though. I have a copy of the affidavit seen by the Dom Post -- I wish I could just link to it -- and it's clear enough to me that there were individuals involved who drew their own parallels with contemporary terrorism.

Perhaps we could also have a word of condemnation for them too.

  • PA Radio: The Electronic Text Centre,

Alison Stevenson, director of the New Zealand Electronic Text Centre, talks to Russell Brown about the centre's work, and about the presentation of 30 of the "Maoriland novels", an almost-forgotten cache of New Zealand's first literary works.

  • PA Radio: Bomber speaks,

Having a quick squizz through the titles over the last month we have "Te Qaede..", "The Terrorism Files", & the "Maoriland" blog uses that wonderful word "niggardly".

People have patiently explained to you what "niggardly" means and where the word comes from, you just refuse to accept it.

"The Terrorism Files" was in quotes because it was a quote from the Dom Post front page.

Your lack of literacy is your problem, not mine. Ditto for your pack mentality as regards Bomber.

  • Hard News: Back in the mainstream,

If you go here you can watch the guys from the Chaser pop round to Kevin's place with a few of his Facebook friends.

That's a simple but great idea. BTW, The Chaser is coming to our screens soon ...

  • Hard News: Back in the mainstream,

Your favorite bands, businesses, and products are coming to Facebook. Check out Dave Matthews Band, become a fan of (RED), or search for your favorite brands.

Which is all part of Facebook's evil plan to take over the world by getting you to do the marketing for their corporate partners. And to use the demographic information you gave them to tell their partners who's using their sites.

    I wrote about it here.

OK, my top Kiwi album is Able Tasmans’ Hey Spinner.

Great post, Rob. Are you familiar with the more recent Humphreys and Kean album? It's delightful.

  • Hard News: Back in the mainstream,

Sorry, Russell, but anyone who would describe either the Coalition or Labour as fiscally conservative is just not speaking any reality-based language I'm familiar with.

Quite. I guess it helps when you're awash in mining money the way Australia is. I think I read one column pointing out that both parties' promises threatened to aggravate an inflationary cycle, but it didn't seem to be a big issue over there.

    I did. Fixed now.

  • Hard News: Maoriland Calling,

I should point out that Matapihi provides a pretty good unified image search across various libraries and archives.

Some of them present images much better than others. The Auckland City Library has lot of old photographs and maps of the city, and presents them at a scale where you can actually look at them. It's quite fun.
