__Buggered off to Switzerland with their loverly lolly. A former colleague of mine once opined if they came back to New Zealand they should be hung for treason.__

And it's dribble like that that makes me wonder why anyone stays -- though if this week's goden boys don't bring back that big silver ashtray, there won't be any room on the gallows for Messers Fay and Richwhite...

Yes, I think hanging is going a bit far.

I'd settle for arrest at the border followed by a stiff term of imprisonment - although if former Fay, Richwhite shareholders wanted to work out their anger by putting the former company principals in the stocks and pelting them I'd be okay with that.

In the real world, of course, Richwhite will buy his way out of his pesky insider trading rap like his fellow defendants have already.

  • Cracker: See More on 3,

Speaking of seeing the logs, we managed to get our hands on the TV3 logs from the switchboard since the show aired and can only find 7 complaints in total about the dresses. There was one person who even called in to say thanks.

Wow. So it's a totally manufactured "story" then.

I really think this goes beyond the usual programme plug - for better or worse, a large part of the nation is actually interested in in what happens in Dancing with the Stars - but this is just cynical nonsense.

And as an Auckland apartment dweller, I'd remind everyone that each CBD worker living in town rather than the 'burbs is a car not clogging the roads every day. Some apartment blocks may be ugly, but motorways are a lot uglier.

I dunno. I drove down past that enormous Lighter Quay thing (and its enormous sibling) last weekend and found it quite depressing that I couldn't see the water any more, even though it's only a few metres away. It's a much, much bigger block than the AC bases were. And the utter shambles in the old railyards area, which has completely cut off that part of the city from the sea, is just as depressing. Basically, the kind of people who buy or live in those apartments don't engage in a lot of streetlife. By comparison, the dreaded stadium - as a public space - seems like it would have been rather nice.

Auckland's such a mess. I still love it, but ...

This link turned up in Damian's thread, but it's relevant here too:

That said, there can be few things more galling for a chronic sufferer than to be told that a successful cure depends on their 'really wanting' to get well. It's essentially a shifting of responsibility to the patient, and an attitude you're unlikely to encounter from conventional practitioners.

A good friend of mine battled off cancer in her early 20s, and she got very, very tired of well-meaning people implying it was something to do with her attitude: like she'd get better if only she thought more positively or something.

Without wishing to piss in your pocket Damian, One's news and current affairs services increasingly look like the sensible option. I'm not sure what they're thinking at 3 right now.

OTOH, how many damn cameras did One have at the funeral of that nice lady from South Auckland this week? Was she Prime Minister or something?

We had the Anika Moa cover up here, so it seems only decent to post the original. Cool clip too ...
