  • Hard News: About Arie,

Yes, engage with MPs and the media, giving positive and negative feedback. I complained to the PM about JC's comments but don't expect a reply. I will also write to the SST about ML.

@Marcus, Paul Offit writes good stuff too. I'm a fan of Brian Deer (a journalist) who has been a whistle blower on this issue since about 2004.

  • Hard News: About Arie, in reply to Stephen Judd,

I was one of many who contacted my local MP Grant Robertson when this story broke. He has a lot of credibility around autism advocacy (he is an effective behind the scenes worker), and he was in the process of writing his Red Alert piece. In politics there are lot of competing issues to consider, and it might surprise Kracklite that getting his one vote on 26 November is not more important than that of any of the other 3 or so million voters in NZ. The left is about collective struggle to improve the lot of the less powerful, as well as society in general, not individualism.

  • Hard News: An excellent evening in Newtown, in reply to kmont,

I've been on china alert recently looking for replacements for Emma's broken china cottage and pony, but that Crown Lynn swan vase was large and elegant and unmissable if you happened upon it. Like this but without the sunglasses. I expect there is one at the Crown Lynn exhibition at the City Art Gallery that I haven't got to yet.

But bullies must be held accountable, particularly when their victims are not in a position to stand up for themselves.

  • Hard News: About Arie,

'PC wets like Mediawatch's (sic) Russell Brown' are advised not to read Michael Laws' latest cruel rant.

Just to get back to the story of Arie from someone who knows him and the area: 'There is an old shop building (brick) which had largely collapsed in the first earthquake last year very near his flat. The facade had collapsed completely and access was easy although dangerous. He only took a couple of old, incandescent-type light bulbs which would clearly have become part of the rubbish to be carted away.'

A recent US study found people with ASD were seven times more likely to be picked up by police than those without.

  • Hard News: About Arie,

An astologer on television last year said that not only would Australia win the RWC but that November 2011 was not auspicious for the PM. (He was the one who predicted Len Brown would win the Auckland mayoralty.)

  • Hard News: About Arie,

You don't think that the fact that there have been three major disasters under this current administration won't dent the enthusiasm of those who might be a little superstitious (a significant proportion of the population and not including PA readers), to vote for them again?

Russell, I will try to remember to click on the ads on this website, since someone is counting, rather than just note them ephemerally.
