    Rachel Prosser:

. . . in the psychology books, "Families and How to Survive them" and "Life and How to Survive It" written by John Cleese and Robin Skinner, there's something explaining why people at the political extremes are prone to projecting their fears on others, and to splintering into ever greater fragments, each one purer in ideology than the last.
One question: can someone explain to me what exactly Judith Tizard did or didn't do that causes so many people to deride her so much?
Is she just a convenient target? Or did someone (e.g. John Banks) mount a sustained campaign against her reputation? There's shades of the Hilary hating there, and I can't quite work out what she did to deserve to be painted as less competent than George W Bush.

As long as you're employing your psychological skills to delve beyond the obvious, it might be interesting to turn your attention to the shades and nuances underlying the downfall of David Benson-Pope. For reasons I've never been able to fathom he seemed to provoke a real Freudian's picnic of responses from the politically prurient.

Miranda & Barry Otto? Features a water tower in a crucial scene?

Just so. And a profusion of fishy themes (Barry did always seem a bit like a suave giant grouper).

Hey! No dissing of Barry White . . .

A now rather obscure but different little Australian movie that features the 'magic' of Barry White unleashed upon a small-town generation who'd never heard him before:

While I prefer a medley of Al Green, Marvin Gaye and Barry White myself.

Barry White? Songs of the Humpback Whale. Or am I confusing him with Demis Roussos?

    :

While his National billboards from 2005 might have been 'clever' to some people they looked bloody horrible.

Eye of the beholder and all. We can now put aside the acrimony and recognise Mr. Ansell's masterful media manipulation for what it really was - a long and hitherto thankless mission, driven by unswerving dedication to the principles of The Treaty, to deliver something close to an Iwi/Kiwi coalition.

Michael Basset was probably in on the sting as well, cunning devil.

And why does he want to go? Hasn't he seen the leaders' annual fancy dress photos? Honeymoon ends, right there.

It's only the Indonesian events that are a real must-avoid - batik shirts that even Richard Prebble wouldn't be seen dead in.

His post on Poneke -- and most especially his claim that Helen Clark "lied about the state of her marriage" -- makes him seem like an angry, unpleasant nutcase.

That, or trapped in the bitterness of unrequited love. Who knows?

. . . let's hope that Key chap has the cojones to stick to the promises that sucked the gullible Kiwis in and keep Douglas away from any influence.

Speaking of which, has Douglas bet his left testicle yet that he'll be given a bauble befitting his sense of self-importance? The resemblance to a rather grumpier version of Bob the Builder is spooky.
