  • Hard News: There is History,

Here's a different question: what happens in a country with private healthcare when a large percentage of the population visits the doctor and therefore makes a claim at the same time?

Do health insurance policies have the same "act of god" clause that regular insurance policies have?

Do we end up with more faux-capitalism whereby the insurers complain of extenuating circumstances and ask for a bailout?

They don't cover Acute Care in NZ, basically anything requiring immediate attention .... go to A&E

  • Hard News: Dear Prudence,

But is contacting and making offers to customers on this basis anti-competitive, or just good retail competition?

In the outbound call centre business I think this is know as "Retention". There will be whole department at Mercury devoted to just this.

  • Cracker: Titular Titilation,

Whenever I see the anti-drinking ads on TV I remember that some govt made beer baron Mr Myers, Sir Douglas. Just can't get my head around the hypocrisy

You might want to check your facts on this one, Douglas Myers has never been Knighted.

You are however not along in making this mistake, it has been made many times over the years by the media.

  • Speaker: Surviving Small II: Changing Process,

For this to work, though, EFTPOS would have to transmit the line items and their dollar value as well, since you can purchase multiple products or services in one transaction

I'm pretty sure the problem will be the EFTPOS network transaction doesn't have enough detail/space in it to transmit this level of detail.

We've looked at it to use the EFT network for other transaction types at you know where Cam.

They'd also have to get rid of those thermal printers too, the EFT receipts fade after 10 minutes.

And a huge number of the EFT machines are still not connected to the till/system doing the invoicing whatever it is you're buying.

I thought the IRD already did have a waiver for recipts for below a certain $ value ?

  • Hard News: Play Time,

    And another excellent Media 7:

I know it was only a minor part of the show but I felt a bit short changed by the FOO camp report personally, didn't really tell me much except a few geeks in tents gathered at Warkworth.

I'm sure there's much more to it. Where can I find more ?

  • Hard News: Only in a relative sense,

I was passing the Pt Chev Liquor Centre -- our local tag-strewn hole in the wall -- so I stopped and bought a bottle.

It's news to me that they sell wine, you should've stuck with a few Woodys

  • Hard News: The Trophy Hunter,

early-stage hypothermia. It did seem like a clear and present danger.

With some of my teachers the problem was late-stage alcoholism I think.

I'm off for a haircut, 'evening all
