  • Hard News: Mediaworks: The only horizon…,

To add to the insult was to hear the hypocritical Key say that he really rated John Campbell and was very sorry to see him go. Yeah right!. I am sure that that nice Mr Key used a proxy knife to cut JC's belt off him.

  • OnPoint: Beyond 'a bad look',

Powerful stuff Keith. You articulate what many of us think/believe but we lack the venues to say so. Thankyou.

  • Hard News: This Anzac Day,

It seems sad to me that those who went and returned seems to be not treated with enough respect. After all because they lived on the nightmares were daily demons. They must have been so very very brave to have carried on in spite of the awful experiences that the politicians put them in.

Winston Churchill refused the credit that Turkey needed in the building/refitting of the Turkish ships in the UK. They wanted an alliance with the UK but when rejected by Churchill, they were picked up by Germany as an enforced ally. The first action of Germany was to send German ships with Turkish (Ottoman) flags into the Black Sea to shell Russian towns.

So had Churchill accommodated The Turks , Gallipoli would never had happened!

  • Hard News: Media Take: The Easter Show,

Having watched Bishop Tamaki in the past when in full flow to his flock, I was disappointed when on Media Take he seemed incoherent. You would think that he should have been articulate about his own version of religion.
(Mind you I remember completely freezing on the subject of Intellectual Handicap for an interview on National Radio years ago. So I can't claim too high.)
In Vietnam on the Mekong Delta we visited a church made up of 4 or five diverse religions. Imagine such a church of Protestant, Catholic, Islam, Buddhist or Hindu. Much harder to fight each other?

  • Hard News: The other kind of phone tapping,

There was a phone box in London somewhere where Kiwis in the know could phone home bypassing the coin system and talk free. A queue would form late at night for the privileged few.

  • Hard News: The GCSB and the consequences…,

    Valuable incisive discussion re surveillance.
The clip of Mr Key being unwilling to answer concerns re Security issues is so unpleasant. ("I know some secrets and I'm not telling you. So ha ha ha. Suck on that," said smugly and with arrogant sneer.)
    An open democratic society? Really?

I like the new look Media Take. Found Dr Pihama's rhetoric almost impenetrable. And there is plenty of room for a new slant on design put forward by Lester Hall.

  • Speaker: Why all the fuss over six trees?,

Interesting to me is the rage over a bunch of old trees. So many people expressing their angst. But where is the angst for the CO2 reaching 400.46 ppm today according to the Keeling Curve? Where are the raging citizens about that?
It seems to me that we can get roused over small and but tangible issues like trees and flags but ignore Asset Sales, Climate Change.
Has Mr Key twigged that big issues are too hard for a population to handle?

  • Hard News: News from home ...,

Andrew Little has said that the raising of Super Age and the CGT were good ideas but too many such policies were offered to the electorate during the election. Therefore fewer policies - for now. CGT and Super will still on the agenda.
And a big hooray for the UBI which should have been discussed by everyone much more when Gareth published the book Bigkahuna. If Andrew can get that in the discussion pages that would be a great effort. (Sadly it would just about wipe out the Social Welfare Department. How sad.)

  • Hard News: News from home ..., in reply to Andrew Geddis,

But beyond that, if Little was going to win, it should have been in a landslide. A marginal squeak-by on the basis of union executive diktat is the worst possible starting point.

Oh. Now I see. If Little squeaks in it is bad. If one more caucus vote had had gone to Robertson then would have been Ok for Grant to squeak in but not Andrew.

You are one with Brian Rudman who ends up writing,

"But beyond that, if Little was going to win, it should have been in a landslide. A marginal squeak-by on the basis of union executive diktat is the worst possible starting point."

    Yeah right!
