  • Field Theory: Four Years Ago, in reply to Tom Semmens,

Your rant following the game is something to behold.

  • Field Theory: Four Years Ago,

Going back and reading that thread from 4 years ago has just made me sad.

  • Field Theory: Four Years Ago,

Thank you for quoting me. I am filled with dread as every sport related publication in the country hauls in an ex-All Blacks who says we should win. I'm not a superstitious man, but for every person who says we will win the world cup, it increases the chances of a forward pass not being picked up by the referee or touch judge by 7%.

Fun fact: If Australia or South Africa win the world cup they get to keep one of them. In perpetuity, by virtue of being the first nation to win it 3 times.

  • Hard News: Everybody's News,

Living in the UK, it unfolded in the afternoon. All five free to air channels ran coverage of the attack until 7.30pm when BBC2 switched to.... Eastenders.

If they interrupt our soaps, the terrorists have won.

  • Hard News: 2011: The Year Of What?,

Well I had a great weekend, and was feeling very positive. Then I read this thread. Goodness me, talk about the Public Address-men of the Apocalypse.

  • Hard News: The new riot reporter,

Umm re that unbelievable video from Sky...that's just out and out suppression of speech...horrifying.
It shows a real misunderstanding of social media; Twitter/Blackberry Messenger didn't cause the riots, it was merely a mode of communication. If you suppress one, another will just shoot up....christ it's given me the heebie jeebies. And I don't often use the term heebie jeebies.

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v South Africa…,

McAlister was the 13 in the quarterfinal in 2007 – certainly not a fullback.

99.99% sure that Muliaina played centre that day with McAlister at 2nd 5.

    Simon Poole Snap.

  • Hard News: Fixing Auckland,

Oh and what really made it fantastic was finding myself sitting next to Joe Stanley and getting some really interesting perspective on the game.

  • Hard News: Fixing Auckland,

As a Wellingtonian visiting Eden Park for the first time ever, I would just like to say how impressed I was with everything about the experience.

We didn't know what entrance we were supposed to go to, no problem, the people in the fluoro vests were more than happy to help. They did it with a smile on their faces and wished us good luck and a great night. The lines to get in moved quickly and efficiently and there was no jostling. Kudos to you Eden Park.

(though the line to the train station was something to behold).

I then went and visited the Wynyard Quarter on Sunday and while I think it's lovely, my only concern is the gap between something and anything.

We tried to do something similar in Wellington with the Queens Wharf centre in the mid 90s and it fell over because there was nothing between it and the nearest shopping. I hope this goes better because it's a lovely spot!
