  • Hard News: Drunk Town, in reply to Rob S,

    Symptom addict...

Yet any other feel good drug is treated as if western society will come to a crashing halt if it’s allowed. We need to have a sensible conversation in this country over these problems...

I understand that good governance can have a soporific effect on the populace, you know that all-suffusing golden glow that comes from having trust in a caring, thinking Government, that has the people's best interests at heart and has thought through all consequences...
    - with these words the Soma Party foundations
    push up through the grassroots...

So where do I get this Free Sky access then?

    Mark it farces...

And it will have consequences for years to come.

I fear they are betting that Charter Schools will save the day,
and we'll see a drop off in the fully formed and informed adults quota for a generation or two...

  • Capture: Two Tripods, One Night, in reply to Nora Leggs,

Does anyone know anything about these poems that are being carefully applied to the columns under the harbour bridge?

Seems to be part of a project-in-progress by designer/typographer Catherine Griffiths commissioned by Boffa Miskell, so I guess by the council ultimately…
…and the fast approaching July 27, 2012 is National Poetry Day
    – there may be some connection?

    What becomes a legend?

…at least part of 7 will live on

    That raises a good point.
Does anyone know what will happen to all the 7-generated stuff on the TVNZ on-demand site?
Will the TVNZ stuff remain (like Back Benches ) and does the rest revert to the originating Production Companies?
    Collected show DVDs?
Hopefully people will still have access (somehow) to what has gone before – being mindful of the folly of flushing both baby and bathwater…

…or are they taking the Bysshe….

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!’
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away”.

    Rules of engagement...

    - More crowd sourcing input into public policy proposals

...and much easier to do these days one would think

But the crowd source I want to see disappear is the "Muttering Classes' in Parliament, the echoers and barracking posse that wells up behind each speaker. It is not adult, makes them appear juvenile and petty and slows everything down - hell the signal-to-noise problems alone should see it outlawed...
