Hard News: Where are the foreigners?!, in reply to
Kick out the JAMCs...
...it's just a fish
I believe Moses was found amongst the Reids, too!
Hot Fuzz indeed, Hallelujah... -
Under the mountain…
Don’t mock New Plymouth!
Not me, I hold very fond (if not fragmented) memories of a great Flying Nun New Year’s Eve gig there – sometime in the ’80s at a sports hall near the coast… (belated thanks for the hospitality Gordon!)
Though I do recall there being a big gap between those working in the well paid oil industry related jobs and the larger group who were hopelessly (but not dopelessly) unemployed…On a more sombre note I also recall Toy Love decided to break up there, when we were staying at the pub’s band house, it all came to a head one afternoon, but we couldn’t tell anyone till after the tour finished (and to ensure that the fabulous animator of Bride of Frankenstein got paid, in case the record company spat the dummy) – strange days…

Moccasins - more slipper than snake...
Am only too happy to be mocked.
Sheesh, now I'm worried - there was me thinking I was walking softly and carrying a big shtick... I hope when I do do my correct word thing that no one takes it as scornful or contemptuous or even sanctimonious a good natured ribbing and helpful nudge in the right direction perhaps, but derision - never (or not intended if perceived). :- )

Back in the black...
We also know that some foreigners were off the coast of Tauranga,
not giving a shit about where they were...
Heartbreaking pictures on the news tonight.
The only good thing that may come from this is putting a stop to the start of possibly risky off-shore drilling around New Zealand...
Good ol' BP is about to start risking the Shetland Islands like the Deepwater Horizon disaster never happened - but we can trust big corporations can't we? -
Oz Rock...
Further to the off-thread Australian
Aboriginal art/archaeology topic
- some links of possible interest:
Ubirr in Arnhem land painted for millennia...Moving rock art destroys spatial references...
Rio Tinto has a Cultural heritage specialist!...
Half of all ancient Aboriginal art could disappear in next 50 years...
OK not Australia but addresses the heart of art...
and this one grabbed me - Proof of Italian vampires existence:
Archaeologists have unearthed the skeletal remains of an 800-year-old woman with nails driven into her jaw in what could be a 'witch's graveyard' in Italy.
You'll note it's not 'the 800-year-old skeletal remains of a woman' but 'the skeletal remains of an 800-year-old woman' - scary stuff!
...tip of the hat to the great Archaelogica site

Up for the count...
It’s time to stand up and be counted.
It’s what makes sense.Surely that makes Census!
:- )
But hopefully, ultimately - consensus... -
head 'em off at the impasse...
aporia is that similar to apiary
like our Beehive - full of buzz-words and presiding
over a state of puzzlement, doubt and confusion...

Compounding headache...
And I thought you were about to mock me
for misspelling capsaicin...Mock you, Bart?
Never!
I am too appreciative of the places you take us
and the things you tell us, to be anything more
than a humble part of the support crew... :- )
