  • Hard News: Spread the Noise,

LOVED listening to the police scanners. Pretty raw, but full of genuine emotion. Occasionally exciting, often boring, but a lot more immediate, and better informed than the steady parade of CNN frontpeople. And jut what exactly is a "less-lethal shotgun?" Something that fires bean-bags?

It's a bit of a sidebar, but this was one of my favourite pieces about the lockdown.

  • Up Front: Oh, Grow Up,

One of the first indicators of approaching adulthood, was finding myself wearing a sensible coat to a gig, in case it rained on the way home. No, not an anorak.

Next was looking around and finding I was with all the other dads near the mixing desk, stroking our beards and discussing the mix, watching the kids jumping around up front.

  • Capture: Dogs Love Cameras Too,

We don’t own a dog, but we find considerable joy in borrowing other people’s pets. All care, no responsibility!

    [Redacted-fixed it for you] ;-)

  • Hard News: The real problem with the…,

The Herald has put up some of the raw vision Ambrose shot on the day. Man, that was a hard-core media scrum! http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/video.cfm?c_id=1&gal_objectid=10794733&gallery_id=124741

  • Hard News: Democracy Night,

Voted in Petone, which was wonderful. Best moment was when an entire bridal party came in to vote. What was a lovely vibe in the school hall became even more special when the bride (lovely dress BTW) and groom came in. Nice to share a little of someone's special day.

  • Hard News: Complaint and culture,

My understanding was that TVNZ acknowledged that they had made a mistake, but Don took it to the BSA becaue TVNZ did not do an on-air correction.

  • Hard News: Angry and thrilled about Arie,

Reports about the Inspector Dave Cliff interview on Sunday have reached my delicate little ears. It seems like he was (kindly) incredibly "on message" throughout the interview, or (more realistically) incredibly intransigent, and deliberately misleading. When asked about the possibility of diversion for Arie's first court appearance in March, he repeatedly referred to events at the May hearing, even when specifically told that the question referred to March and Arie's early guilty plea. All other questions were answered with the same preface - "You have to place the events in context. Christchurch was a city in crisis...". Apparently, this excuses all Police behaviour, including misleading a Judge with a false document.

  • Hard News: When the Weather is the News,

Heard a story today that two guys got around (possibly bribed) the cordon on SH3 at the bottom of the Rimutukas last night, trekked to the summit, and boarded down the road to the bottom. Would be a magic run.

  • Muse: Hooray for Wellywood (Really!),

I thought the building above the proposed sign used to be used by Civil Aviation, and then was bought by the the airport and leased to Jackson's Wingnut Films. Barrie Osbourne used to have an office up there. It might be why the big wigs in Miramar have kept a noticeable silence on this one.

Personally, I'll be aiming to sit on the other side of the aircraft when using Wellington's airport. It could lead to issues onboard aircraft when frequent fliers refuse to open their blinds so as to avoid looking at the abomination on the way in or out. Tourists, on the other hand, might not be able to get past the view of gorse, aviation tank farms, disused wharves and gang pads before they even get to stupid sign.
