All racists are bad people;
All people who think or say racist things are racists;
I am not a bad person;
Therefore, nothing I think or say is racist. -
And the "PC brigade". I like to say "we're a regiment, actually."
-
Why is it 99% of the time “PC gone mad”??
Have you tried quitting and restarting?

3410,
Where did that guy GO?
A basketball scholarship, I presume. As you say, never heard from again except, perhaps, as the partial inspiration for this guy.

T-shirts should also be available in lowcut options, because some New Zealanders like their boobs. And in long sleeves, and short sleeves, and no sleeves. But not in "wifebeater" fashion.
-
What I love are the people saying 'but he wasn't being racist, it was just some off-the-cuff remarks'. Yeah. Remarks which were, uh, totally fucking racist.
The crazy thing is, it wasn't just that morning, it was a string of remarks on different days.

The thing that makes Paul Henry upset me more than many of the other arseholes out there is how very often he makes it personal - it's not Asians or mustachioed women in general he is poking fun at (which is quite abhorrent enough), he is singling out individuals to make cruel and personal remarks about which makes him a bully.

And even worse: "About". Not "to".
None of his Breakfast targets were there to respond.

i think Paul should come to the Diwali Festivals later this month. He'd be the centre of attraction.

Sadly, I fear this would still be giving him what he wants.
(In a deeply twisted way, but then...)

After his diatribe about the NZEI's silent treatment of Tolley and primary teachers response to National Standards last week sometime I quite like the idea of PH touring schools. It would give him an insight into the reality of things as opposed the slavish following of the Tolley line on National Standards.

What, do you have to be actually burning a cross on a guy's lawn before someone calls something racist in this country?
A comment I saw yesterday was to the effect of, it MIGHT have been racist if he'd like, called him [a racist name].
(Interestingly the middle of the word in question was asterisk'd out, I don't know if that was TV3's site filters or the commenter not wanting to be racist.)
In retrospect a few people may have been like that. I'm putting that down to what I think they call concrete thinking.
I think on the Herald polls about 35% though his GG comments weren't racist and 35% though the punishment was too harsh. Since that's % of Herald poll voters, I choose to be pleased with that.

I think a lot of PH's comments and the support for him is based on fear that the world is changing and they don't know how to cope. I see parallels with those who want to keep sheltered workshops, and it fits in with PH's earlier comments about Susan Boyle. They don't want to be forced to admit that other groups of people, apart from themselves, are fully human, and have equal rights to participate in the world.

And as I type, I hope someone somewhere is, as @johubris suggested on twitter, making T-shirts that say, "This Is What a New Zealander Looks Like." In several colours, and all sizes: XL, large, medium, and small.
I'll take an XL thanks. And one for Mr 6 (who wears a size 8). He gave me props for standing up to a bully.

And that, my friend, is why you rule. Because the kid sees his dad as someone to emulate. And that's a great thing.

at the risk of sounding insensitive,
perhaps we could start a new festival
for the unenlightened on a quest...

Too true. Seeing their suburban empires crumbling around them, they'll have a tendency to resort to half-baked Elders of Zion/Elders of Mecca/Red Domino theories.
There's really nothing for them to worry about. All they need is a Sunshine Coast real estate booklet.

Paul Henry is a father of 3
Sadly the ability to make babies does not imbue greater wisdom.

As a dedicated Mac user I think that every time

It's festival of lights not dims
(sorry really should go have a coffee, random firing of neurons is random)

Ben's a hero
And so is Mr 6, for calling it like it is.
-
Mr 6 rocks the party. The child has a moral compass the size of Big Ben. Uh, I mean the timepiece, not (just) his dad.
(Between them, they also have more Lego than God).
