  • Jos,

Great stuff mate, it's great to set yourself a project!. A lovely challenge, and most of it is in the head. Your use of light works well, they have a nice warm melancholy somehow. This sort of thing is one of the hardest, in theory there is no excuse for anything to be 'not right'. These all look great, the projector image especially blows me away! :)

    But who wears the pants?

    Thanks all.

    blows me away!

Especially glad you like this one. This is where the 'don't burn your house down' comes from. The arty red swirls on the right are created by my holding burning paper under the light beam, to make smoke for the projector to shine through. What could possibly go wrong? :-)

Just the thing for a mobile home - a tiny dairy!

Ahhh - nice work on the projector beam. Pleased you explained the red swirls - had been rather confused.

I take a few photos of smallish plants for one reason or another. Just an ageing handheld point'n'shoot - tend to leave it in manual mode. I understand that using a wider aperture creates a shallower depth of field, especially in macro - which can make composition a problem.

Here's something for a fortnight ago - with natural light. Oh, and perseverance to take 40-60 shots trying to make things work.

    a tiny dairy!

My wee one got a wee theatre the other day, and I thought it'd be perfect for just this kind of thing. Maybe between us we could build a little town.

Speaking of the manic inn, I had a couple of others, which didn't quite make the cut.

This was 'You come to me with your hair curled tight'. :-)

    Still life indeed.

A small seahorse (size of a finger) found on Ohope beach and brought to me for framing.
But first I had to play with it...

A scan using my transparency scanner

detail isn't bad, scanners make good cameras if you are prepared to play with settings

    and a photo for comparison

    Somebody mentioned mannikins.

And somebody seems to think there might still be life in this.

    (or are they marionettes?)

lotsa lovely old Chchch in this clip
spookily Paul was right by that intersection during the Feb 22 2011 earthquake and managed to grab some footage of the aftermath of that building coming down, the dome still rolling around on the road – it subsequently ‘disappeared’ from the innercity red zone – copper thieves had better access than citizens.
