  • Kyle Matthews,

For those who watched the Paxman Howard video, and wanted to know the answer it is.... kinda!

  • Chukkkker,

Being able to interrupt your subject and get the conversation where you need it to go -- ideally, without appearing rude -- is a core skill of broadcast interviewing, for sure.

    Or indeed, appearing nude.

  • Glenn Pearce,

The most disturbing thing about this thread is the discovery that some people think that @seven was anything other than a puerile, painful, cringingly unfunny waste of space. I'd much rather have Simpsons re-runs: hell, even re-runs of Melody Rules would be better.

I agree Tom, and my own children were on the show...

  • Steve Parks,

I gave up on Campbell Live a long while back.

Would it have been around the time the lead story on the show was about how a bug got in someone's takeaway?

    Seriously.

  • Paul Litterick,

I like those huge poster ads which both sides (sorry, channels) run, showing their journalists doing terribly important news stories. They are almost like real life.

  • George Darroch,

I remember Campbell giving a lecture on the media to an undergraduate politics class I was in. He railed about the failure of the New Zealand media to take politics and society to account.

What a bitter taste those words leave in my mouth, 8 years later.

  • Steve Withers,

On the other hand, one might hope the sight of the chest of either sex in public becomes so normal and boring it ceases to draw viewers.

It's only a draw because it's " naughty". So make it not naughty.

  • Steve Withers,

George: Why is there a bitter taste in your mouth? I'm sure Campbell would love to do real journalism if Kiwis wanted to see it on TV.

They don't...or they would watch it.

Today Jeanette Fitzsimons announced her resignation from parliament (Green politics affects everyone); Phil Goff made a speech about the rising gap between the rich and the poor (incomes are relevant to everyone).

So what does Campbelllive feature? A strange story about dead dogs.

More than strange, fuking Evil if you ask me. AND... would you like to ask the guy who had all his family of dogs slaughtered by a couple of arrogant sick CUNTS what he thinks is more important, a retiring politician or the waffle of existing ones?.

  • Steve Barnes,

Whichever derogatory term you choose. They are evil.
I understand the panic about Pitbulls but there are dogs from the same "breed" that are very bright and obedient. Wholesale slaughter is just plain nasty, the actions of evil people.

  • Islander,

I've agreed (though I wouldnt call the people involved evil.) To label their stupid & vicious act "the most evil" carried out in this archipelago is just plain stupid - wanna know some history? I can keep it confined to my tribal area, and only to the past 3 centuries-

  • Steve Barnes,

I think my history is a little longer than yours. I remember when I was covered in woad and the romans came a knokim' on my door and let's not mention the Vikings. You Scots had it easy. You try tellin' kids today. And, yes I had an evil puppy once so yes, I suppose I was rogn... ronge... wrogn.. Why do I have so much trouble with that word?.

  • Islander,

    O hell Sacha!
That's what I have great difficulty with, in Oz - some Aboriginal tribes use 'Koori" for the equivalent of our "Maori". It is pronounced exactly the same as 'kuri" - which is the E. Polynesian word for dog.

Or up to 60,000plus years bpe Sacha - it was the lower case that got to me. Koori is their name for themselves (to outsiders) as Maori is our name (ditto.)
