  • andrew llewellyn,

Speaking of abs & things, did you see the almost transfixing movement of the stomach of one of the women's walkers? No idea who it was - but it caused a flurry of comments (from the womenfolk - the menfolk were dumbfounded) at home.

  • Charles Mabbett,

Usain Bolt accused of showboating - would you care if you were him?

Isinbayeva making it on her last attempt. Talk about seizing the moment. A champion.

Netherlands winning the water polo gold in a nailbiting finish against the US made an unwatchable sport watchable.

Argentina smashing Brazil in mens' football semifinal.

    Weightlifter Steiner's jumping jubilation.

The US men's and women's 100m relay teams dropping their batons!

    So much good stuff.

  • LegBreak,

    The 200 metres semis.

Bolt comes into the straight first equal. He starts jogging towards the line but the other guy is hanging in there.

Bolt gives him the glare as if to say “just stop it man”

20 metres later he’s still hanging in there, Bolt gives him another stare. And then 2 more stares.

20 metres out and it’s still even.

So Bolt starts sprinting for 2 paces and leaves him for dead.

    Superb theatre.

  • Hadyn Green,

    It was absolutely hypnotic.

they had the same shots during the women's marathon. As their feet hit the ground you could see all of the muscles and joints take the shock and then their legs muscles tense for the next stride. Fantastic.

20 metres out and it’s still even.

So Bolt starts sprinting for 2 paces and leaves him for dead.

And all in the space of a few seconds

  • 3410,

Sarah Walker has just qualified second for the BMX final, which will run in, I guess, about half an hour.

  • JP Hansen,

Marc Willers had a shocker, causing carnage on every run. Finished last in the semis.

Brendan Telfer(sp) just blamed the print media for beating up china on the smog. O how short a memory!

    I can't believe it's a one-race final.

Oh well, being 4th and not crashing is pretty good.

  • 3410,

Would've been nice if TVNZ hadn't cut to ads from the men's final so quickly. I'd have liked to have at least seen the replay.

  • LegBreak,

Shame they postponed that from yesterday.

That would have been fantastic in the rain.

  • andrew llewellyn,

That would have been fantastic in the rain.

I'm sensing a groundswell for change - ALL women's events (except for the weightlifters & stuff) will henceforth be performed in pouring rain! Sprinklers will have to be installed in every stadium.

  • Peter Darlington,

Hayden, can I just say that I'm enjoying your Olympics blog more than I'm enjoying the Olympics? Very entertaining.

The Olympics is a bit too overwhelming for me and I can't be bothered with most of the sports although I have enjoyed a few moments, especially the super Saturday events.

As an aside, I saw a few minutes of the Tae Kwon Do last night and the way the athletes dance at each other before executing a move brought back memories of discos when I was 12.
