  • Geoff Lealand,

Excellent Media 7 last night, Russell--even though there was possibly more marketing gibberish than my delicate stomach could handle from a couple of those magazine honchos. The next word to ban from public discourse: "monetarise"!

  • Dave Waugh,

Was going to say that I'm surprised anyone would be silly enough to forget to run something like body painted models past the interested parties. Seems an obvious no brainer to me??
Wonder if that PR crowds now in the market for a new client?

  • Tristan,

can we ban 'moving forward' first?

    Maybe we could move to..

Me: Does anyone every say moving forward to you?

Neighbour: No way man, You'd get your ass kicked for saying that around my work...

also I never thought I'd hear my self say the orginal cure version was more upbeat than the cover. Good none the less

  • Ben Gracewood,

Oh yes. It's the candyfloss that really does it.

I have to admit, on the night, Dylan Reeve (my blind date) and others made passing comments along the lines of "hoo look at that, Google trademark and nipples. I wonder how that got past PR".

Turns out maybe it never did.

  • LegBreak,

“Root Cause”, used as a verb, is bamboo under the toenails for me.

(BTW, I’m assuming it’s 2 words, but you never know)

  • Ewan Morris,

I don't know anything about "moving forward", but Irish writer Jospeh O'Connor has a brilliant piece on the awful phrase "going forward". He has a regular slot on the RTE Radio Drivetime programme in Ireland. My partner and I happened to hear this on the radio when we were driving around Ireland in April and thought it was hillarious. You can find it here: http://eguinan.wordpress.com/2009/05/13/when-we-started-going-forward-thats-when-we-started-going-backwards/ or here: http://www.rte.ie/radio1/podcast/podcast_drivetime.xml (go to 29 April 2009).
    2 piece of trivia:
    1. Joseph O'Connor is Sinead's brother
    2. RTE Drivetime is the equivalent of Radio NZ National Checkpoint, and like Checkpoint is hosted by a woman called Mary Wilson. True!

  • Robert van Bakel,

    Russell,
I have been a fan for several years. I know you are a media savvy sevant, and that your beat covers more than just politics, but could you please get back to it; politics that is.
Why is it that since the ineffectual 'Key' became PM you are not exposing the tosspot for what he is; a 'micromanager' devolved of relations to the humanity he supposedly represents?
I'm not a particularly argumentative person, and I would not like to argue against you, ('You', being somewhat brighter than, 'I'), BUT,when Helen was dame, you shat upon National specifically, and the opposition generally. I know your a socialist at heart, please resort to form; I miss your style.
    Rob.

  • Steve Barnes,

it appears that the presence of the painted laydeez created brand dissonance for Google

Whereas Air New Zealand seems to think its a great idea. WTF?
I'm just counting down to the complaints.

    Speaking of complaints,

The unnamed Korean businesswoman has dropped her complaint against the former National MP.

  • Brickley Paiste,

    Robert, it's Friday ...

A fine day for Stephen Cook's investigation meeting in the Employment Relations Authority.

Pretty dull so far. The best part was when some dude from Truth stood up -- as the Authority member was mid-sentence -- to address the Authority on some of the evidence. I almost jumped under my chair. It was really funny. In the 1500s he would have been executed on the spot for contempt. Fortunately, the Authority has no contempt jurisdiction...

The actual facts of the case sound really sordid and quite sad.

  • mark taslov,

Make get a beating for this, but it's not that the women were painted naked, but that they were badly painted naked. Also not so much that they were badly painted naked but that they didn't fit the corporate's aesthetic requirements.

If Yves Klein had trotted those google ladies out he'd have been booed off the performance art circuit, no doubt air new zealand picked some finer canvasses.

Oh yes, Robert -- Public Address has been a ending roundelay of prose fellatio of John Key and his evil minions, hasn't it? At least when Russell bitches someone it makes some kind of sense.

  • Russell Brown,

A fine day for Stephen Cook's investigation meeting in the Employment Relations Authority.

Meanwhile, David Fisher responds right here on PA to one of the more notable claims made by Cook (but struck out as inadmissable).

Pretty dull so far. The best part was when some dude from Truth stood up -- as the Authority member was mid-sentence -- to address the Authority on some of the evidence.

Jock Anderson? He's been covering courts for so long he gets a special pass.

So that is what they were referring to rather obliquely. Thanks for that.

I have no idea who it was. "Special" is probably the nicest way to put it. The Authority Member definitely looked at him as if he was special.
