I only managed to catch the last 10 minutes or so, thanks to kids' music lessons and sports, but what I saw looked great. I thought your last guest was very engaging.

Change that to past tense. Tried it half an hour ago, got the geoblocked message popping up for a split second, followed by the connection issues warning with the offer to change speeds - happened twice. Just tried again now (8:10am Beijing time, 12:10pm NZT), loaded fine, watching now.

I like the new set but is is possible to stop the constant movement on the screen behind? It seems to be a television fashion at the moment that you must have a moving screen or set behind a person on the assumption they are not interesting enough to take your whole attention. Instead it makes it very hard to concentrate on what they are saying.

Good show, and no ads! I also particularly liked the last section. Sapna Samant made a lot of sense.

Was great to see the show on air again. It would have been great to hear more from Sapna Samant but overall definitely worth the watch.

Hilary notes the motion on the screen in the background - I found this a little distracting with the old Media7 screens too, but otherwise no quibbles with the look (and actually I kinda liked the thumbs up from stage right at the very end of the credits :) )

Not sure what to think about the future of newspapers. I like the opinion and editorial functions, and am not sure that blogs are ever going to be an adequate substitute. They are a kind of lifestyle, too. But my local paper is edited from somewhere else and it is such a disappointment, with the same stories repeated on different days, news from the big smoke that is not that interesting to my locality, and often poorly written local material.
I think media should support the development of democratic values and practice, but the influence of capital has reached a point where facilitation of democracy is no longer even in the frame.
Good on you for promoting the debate, and I suppose I should also acknowledge NZonAir. I just wish I could be confident that the NZoA model will work over time.
